The lecture begins with the words, “We are conducting an uncontrolled experiment with 5.5 billion cell phones.” She talks about advertising mobile devices to babies. There are now some 100 applications downloading into cell phones to give to babies. She quotes Dr. Leif Salford, who in 2003 conducted research on the opening of the blood-brain barrier by cell phone radiation, “The intense use of mobile phones by youngsters may result in reduced brain reserve capacity that might be unveiled by other later neuronal disease. We cannot exclude that after some decades of (often) daily use, a whole generation of users may suffer negative effects maybe already in their middle age.” Heavy cell phone use from a young age could trigger early-onset Alzheimer’s.
