Pesticide Giants Contribute Millions of Dollars Towards Campaign to Defeat California's Proposition 37 for Labeling of Genetically Modified Food

A recent survey shows that people in California are in favor by at least two to one of Proposition 37 for labeling of genetically modified food (proposition to be voted on in November 2012). The world’s largest pesticide companies  - Monsanto, Dupont, BASF, Dow Agrosciences, Bayer and Syngenta - have spent nearly $20 million to defeat this proposition because genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are a boon for the pesticide industry. The use of pesticides such as Monsanto’s Roundup has exploded since the planting of GMO crops. This MapLight analysis of California Secretary of State data says it all.
