International experts are increasingly warning about the impacts of wireless radiation exposure to all of us, especially children.

Stephen Clarke protested Wi-Fi in his children’s school in Northern Ireland. It was a peaceful protest to raise awareness to this issue.

For doing that, he was incarcerated at a psychiatric hospital in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and is being forcibly medicated. He has been held there for over 11 weeks.

Cellphone Addiction Is ‘an Increasingly Realistic Possibility,’ Baylor Study of College Students Reveals
Baylor University, 27 August 2014

WACO, Texas (Aug. 28, 2014) — Women college students spend an average of 10 hours a day on their cellphones and men college students spend nearly eight, with excessive use posing potential risks for academic performance, according to a Baylor University study on cellphone activity published in the Journal of Behavioral Addictions.

“That’s astounding,” said researcher James Roberts, Ph.D., The Ben H. Williams Professor of Marketing in Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business. “As cellphone functions increase, addictions to this seemingly indispensable piece of technology become an increasingly realistic possibility.”

24-Year-Old Mother Burned by Charging iPhone As She Slept

'My iPhone burned a hole in my BREAST': Mother left scarred for life after charging mobile scorched her as she slept
by Ruth Styles, Daily Mail, 24 August 2014

· Dionne Baxter, 24, from Essex was burned by her iPhone as she slept
· Was left with a painful five inch burn which later became infected
· Fears that she will be unable to breastfeed should she have another child

Sleeping with your mobile charging beside you isn't uncommon but for one young mother, keeping her iPhone close at hand has had painful consequences.

Dionne Baxter, 24, fell asleep lying across her charging iPhone 4 but woke up in agony the next day with a five inch burn on her breast.

Ms Baxter, a former warehouse worker from Purfleet in Essex, was rushed to hospital where doctors attempted to treat the wound with antibiotic cream and painkillers.

'I sleep in the nude and this large red mark was all down one side to the nipple,' Ms Baxter revealed in an interview with the Sun newspaper.

'When I touched the phone, it was so hot, I couldn't pick it up.'

Ms Baxter's experience is not the first time that unwary users have found themselves injured by an overheating iPhone.

Dr. Oz: Keep Your Cell Phone Out of Your Bra to Prevent Deadly Breast Cancer

Dr. Oz's guest was Tiffany Frantz who at age 21 was
diagnosed with breast cancer.  She revealed she had
carried her cell phone in her bra all day, every day,
for 4 years.  In 2013, doctors told her that her breast
cancer had spread to her hip and cancerous lesions had
developed on her spine, pelvic bone, ribs and skull.

This excellent presentation of the Dr. Oz Show also features Dr. John West, breast cancer surgeon, who advises young women to keep their cell phone out of their bra.

Dr Oz: Keep your cell phone out of your bra to prevent deadly breast cancer
by Samantha Chang, Celebrity Fitness and Health Examiner, examiner.com, 26 August 2014

Dr. Mehmet Oz warned that women who keep their cell phones in their bras are putting themselves at risk for breast cancer on the Aug. 26 episode of the Dr. Oz Show.

Dr. Oz believes there's a definite link between cell phones and cancer. "When it comes to cell phones, the bra has become the new purse," said Dr. Oz, who said millions of women are unknowingly endangering themselves for the sake of convenience.

Dr. Oz's guest was Tiffany Frantz, a Pennsylvania woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. Frantz and her mom Traci were shocked because Tiffany was healthy, just 21 years old at the time, and had no family history of cancer. But Tiffany revealed she had carried her cell phone in her bra all day, every day, for four years.

Blood-brain-barrier disruption with high-frequency pulsed electric fields
kurzveilai.net, 14 August 2014

A team of researchers from Virginia Tech and Wake Forest University School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences have developed a new technique for using pulsed electric energy to open the blood-brain-barrier (BBB) for treating brain cancer and neurological disorders.

Their Vascular Enabled Integrated Nanosecond pulse (VEIN pulse) procedure consists of inserting minimally invasive needle electrodes into the diseased tissue and applying multiple bursts of 850-nanosecond pulsed electric energy with alternating polarity.

The researchers think the bursts disrupt tight junction proteins responsible for maintaining the integrity of the BBB, but without causing damage to the surrounding tissue.

iPhone 5 Burns 2-Inch Hole Into Teen's Forearm While Falling Asleep: 3 Ways Your iPhone Is Harming Your Health
by Lizette Borreli, medicaldaily.com, 15 August 2014

British teen Jake Parker is "scarred for life" after his iPhone 5 burned a 2-inch hole in his forearm while asleep in bed. cooltv482/YouTube

Falling asleep cuddling with a mobile device has become a common habit for many who cringe at the thought of losing or being separated from their smartphones. A teen in the UK claims his iPhone 5 left him with a gigantic blister-turned-hole on his forearm after he fell asleep on it after returning from his factory job. Eighteen-year-old Jake Parker is now “scarred for life” after suffering what could be a “radiation burn” that left him with a 2-inch hole.

Parker claims he knew the iPhone 5 caused the injury because it was still “really hot,” he told The Sun. "I was just texting, looking at Facebook — normal stuff.” "Now, every time I move my arm it's like ripping open. At one point I could see the muscle moving."

New Documentary, "Mobilize", Claims Cell Phone Radiation Is Tied to Brain Cancer

Children born in the past few years will be the first generation
with lifelong exposure to cell phone radiation (Mobilize).
While we don’t agree with everything Jack Smith writes in this film review of “Mobilize”, we do appreciate what he quotes the producer as saying about children:  "The issue... is the threat to young kids. No generation before this one will have had cellphones since infancy, and developing brains are much more susceptible to electromagnetic radiation.  'Why not educate kids on this issue?' asks the producer, Kevin Kunze. 'They’re the ones who are most vulnerable, and they’re the ones we’re experimenting on'.”

New Documentary Claims Cellphone Radiation Is Tied to Brain Cancer

We all have a sneaking suspicion that our cellphones are bad for us. You hear it every day: They erode our attention span and keep us connected to social media when we should be paying attention to the people right in front of our eyes. But what if cellphones are actually physically bad for us?

Switzerland: Zurich: The First European Refuge for Electrosensitive People

We do not wish to discourage the initiator of this project, but it seems that the site is badly polluted with cell phone tower radiation.  The article, however, describes well the plight of people living with chemical and electromagnetic sensitivities.

In Zurich, the first European refuge for electrosensitive people
by Solène Cordier, Le Monde, 12 August 2014 (translated by the Editor of this blog)

At first glance, nothing distinguishes this apartment building in the suburbs of Zurich from those surrounding it. Located on the heights of the quiet neighborhood of Leimbach, its sand-colored walls are surrounded by a vast garden of tall grasses. The big trees of the forest of Entlisberg, perched on the adjacent mountain, extend their refreshing shade to the surrounding area.

It is because of the particular setting that the building, destined to welcome people suffering from multiple chemical hypersensitivity (MCS) and electrosensitivity, has been constructed in this location. “Five sites were studied in the beginning,” says Christian Schifferle, the initiator of the project. “Measurements showed that this site was radiated very little thanks to the nearby mountain which offers a protective environment.” The absence of antennas was also a precondition for construction, as well as air quality.

Nanoparticles: Panacea or Pandora's Box?

Like pesticides, nanoparticles also bio-accumulate.  Those
that end up in water - from cosmetics, toothpaste, clothing
and more - concentrate and become magnified as they move
up the food chain.
Nanoparticles: Panacea or Pandora’s Box?
by Dr. David Suzuki, EcoWatch,
12 August 2014

Nanoparticles can be used to deliver vaccines, treat tumours, clean up oil spills, preserve food, protect skin from sun and kill bacteria. They’re so useful for purifying, thickening, coloring and keeping food fresh that they’re added to more products every year, with the nanofoods market projected to reach US$20.4 billion by 2020. Nanoparticles are the new scientific miracle that will make our lives better! Some people say they’ll usher in the next industrial revolution.

Hold on … Haven’t we heard that refrain before?

Nanotechnology commonly refers to materials, systems and processes that exist or operate at a scale of 100 nanometres or less, according to U.S.-based Friends of the Earth. A nanometer is a billionth of a meter—about 100,000 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. AnFriends of the Earth report finds use of unlabelled, unregulated nano-ingredients in food has grown substantially since 2008. Because labelling and disclosure are not required for food and beverage products containing them, it’s difficult to determine how widespread their use is. Nanoparticles are also used in everything from cutting boards to baby bottles and toys to toothpaste.

Like pesticides, nanoparticles also bioaccumulate. Those that end up in water—from cosmetics, toothpaste, clothing and more—concentrate and become magnified as they move up the food chain.

“Major food companies have rapidly introduced nanomaterials into our food with no labels and scant evidence of their safety, within a regulatory vacuum,” says report author Ian Illuminato, Friends of the Earth health and environment campaigner. “Unfortunately, despite a growing body of science calling their safety into question, our government has made little progress in protecting the public, workers and the environment from the big risks posed by these tiny ingredients.”

Studies show nanoparticles can harm human health and the environment. They can damage lungs and cause symptoms such as rashes and nasal congestion, and we don’t yet know about long-term effects. Their minute size means they’re “more likely than larger particles to enter cells, tissues and organs” and “can be more chemically reactive and more bioactive than larger particles of the same chemicals,” Friends of the Earth says. A Cornell University study found nanoparticle exposure changed the structure of intestinal-wall lining in chickens.

Like pesticides, they also bioaccumulate. Those that end up in water—from cosmetics, toothpaste, clothing and more—concentrate and become magnified as they move up the food chain. And in one experiment, silver nanoparticles in wastewater runoff killed a third of exposed plants and microbes, according to a CBC online article.

Their use as antibacterial agents also raises concerns about bacterial resistance and thespread of superbugs, which already kill tens of thousands of people every year.

The Wilson Center, an independent research institution in Washington, D.C., recently created a database of “manufacturer-identified” nanoparticle-containing consumer products. It lists 1,628, of which 383 use silver particles. The second most common is titanium, found in 179 products. While acknowledging that “nanotechnologies offer tremendous potential benefits” the Center set up its Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies to “ensure that as these technologies are developed, potential human health and environmental risks are anticipated, properly understood, and effectively managed.”

As is often the case with such discoveries, widespread application could lead to unintended consequences. Scientists argue we should follow the precautionary principle, which states proponents must prove products or materials are safe before they’re put into common use. Before letting loose such technology, we should also ask who benefits, whether it’s necessary and what environmental consequences are possible.

Friends of the Earth has called on the U.S. government to impose a moratorium on “further commercial release of food products, food packaging, food contact materials and agrochemicals that contain manufactured nanomaterials until nanotechnology-specific safety laws are established and the public is involved in decision-making.”

The group says we can protect ourselves by choosing fresh, organic and local foods instead of processed and packaged foods and by holding governments accountable for regulating and labelling products with nanoparticles.

Nanomaterials may well turn out to be a boon to humans, but we don’t know enough about their long-term effects to be adding them so indiscriminately to our food systems and other products. If we’ve learned anything from past experience, it’s that although we can speculate about the benefits of new technologies, reality doesn’t always match speculation, and a lack of knowledge can lead to nasty surprises down the road.

Honeybees Face Towering Threat From Cell Phones

Honeybees Face Towering Threat From Cell Phones
by Dr. Mercola, 7 November 2009

Studies have brought out evidence to support the theory of colony collapse disorder (CCD) among honeybees due to bioactive microwave radiation from cell phones and their relay towers.

Recent experiments have found that worker bees fail to return to their hives when their navigation skills are interfered by the mobile microwaves. Cell phones were placed near beehives. These hives collapsed totally in 5 to 10 days, with the worker bees failing to return to their homes.

The radiation also causes damage to the nervous system of the bee and it becomes unable to fly.

Cordless Phones: Even More Dangerous Than Cell Phones?
Posted by Lloyd Burrell, electricsense.com, 14 July 2010

If you thought you could solve the problem of cell phone radiation by switching back to your landline phone and your landline is a cordless phone, think again. Studies show that cordless phones emit radiation just the same as cell phones.

In some cases cordless phones are more dangerous than cell phones.

Most cordless phones use DECT (Digital European Cordless Telephone) technology. The handset and the base of the phone, emit pulsed microwave radiation.

A Step Towards Public Awareness-Raising

Re: article entitled, “The Confederation want to measure electrosmog” (24heures, 30 June 2014)
Letter of the Day, Readers’ Mail, 24heures,  22 July 2014

This article demonstrates a step towards awareness-raising of the public on the issue of the long-term effects of non-ionizing radiation. It has been scientifically shown that wireless gadgets, high-voltage power lines and certain household appliances emit waves having detrimental health effects, especially on children. We must cease spreading the impression that certain damaging biological effects are generated by “fear” of waves. Electrosmog can cause, among others, infertility and cancer in man, blindness in calves, damage to trees, and the disappearance of bees.

Violent Video Games Linked to Risk of Delinquency and Alcohol

M-rated video games: M for mistake to let teens spend so much time playing them?
by Maureen Downey, ajc.com,
6 August 2014

We’ve had a lot of discussions on the blog about the impact of smart phones and social media on kids’ educational engagement and social skills. Those conversations have eclipsed the discussion around video games, a pastime of virtually all American kids.

A new study out of Dartmouth linking violent video games and increased deviant behavior will likely generate more talk about the impact on children who play video games.

And most kids do play.

According to Pew Research:

Video gaming is pervasive in the lives of American teens—young teens and older teens, girls and boys, and teens from across the socioeconomic spectrum. Opportunities for gaming are everywhere, and teens are playing video games frequently. When asked, half of all teens reported playing a video game “yesterday.” Those who play daily typically play for an hour or more.

Fully 99% of boys and 94% of girls play video games. Younger teen boys are the most likely to play games, followed by younger girls and older boys. Older girls are the least “enthusiastic” players of video games, though more than half of them play. Some 65% of daily gamers are male; 35% are female.

“A CALL FOR ACTION”
by Emily Hunt and Isabel Fondevila

Filmmaker Kevin Kunze’s new documentary Mobilize will make you think twice about answering your next phone call. That’s because his latest film provides very convincing evidence that cell phones are causing negative impacts on people’s health.

When East Bay father Alan Marks pegged his brain tumor on cell phone usage a few years ago, the issue of cell phone radiation had its brief moment in the limelight. But the media focus eventually fizzled out. And with so many friends to talk to, deals to make, lunch dates to plan, and distant relatives to keep at bay, our reliance on phones wasn't so easily put on hold.

Mobile Phone Radiation Leads to Oxidation in Cells

"The time of denial of non-thermal effects and the relativization of the current state of research in order to protect business interests must stop. Mobile Phone Radiation Leads to Oxidation in Cells
posted in c4st.org's What's Happening Around the World? Written by Diagnose-Funk

The Ukrainian group of scientists around Igor Yakymenko at the Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology in Kiev consider it to be proven that mobile phone radiation leads to harmful oxidation processes in cells through the overproduction of free radicals. In the editorial "Low intensity radiofrequency radiation: a new oxidant for living cells" in the scientific journal "Oxidants and Antioxidants in Medical Science" of 29 March 2014 the group reported that of 80 studies, they had assessed, 92,5 % (= 76 studies) confirmed that mechanism of inflicting damage. "Unexpectedly, a strong non-thermal character of biological effects" had been documented, the group of scientists wrote. Low intensity radiofrequency radiation (RFR) emitted by mobile phone end-user devices "could lead to mutagenic effects through expressive oxidative damage of DNA", because "the substantial overproduction of ROS in living cells under low intensity RFR exposure could cause a broad spectrum of health disorders and diseases, including cancer in humans".

Dads' exposure to solvents linked to childhood brain tumours
by Bianca Nogrady, ABC.net.au, 1st August 2014

Brain tumours in children could have as much to do with the father's occupational exposure to solvents as they have to do with the mother's, a new Australian study has found.

The study, published in the British Journal of Cancer, has found a link between parents' exposure to chemicals such as benzene, toluene, and trichloroethylene and brain tumours in their children.

Lead author Dr Susan Peters, occupational epidemiologist at the University of Western Australia, says while brain tumours are relatively rare they are a major cause of cancer death among children, and the causes are largely unknown.

EMFs

All electrical and wireless devices generate electromagnetic fields (EMFs). EMFs never extinguish, they travel indefinitely through space, and disturb other electromagnetic charges in their vicinity; including the electromagnetic processes that underlie all of the body’s biological processes.

Antenna in the human brain

Research at the Caltech University (California Institute of Technology), by Joseph L. Kirschvink, shows the brain is a high-power magnetic receiver lined with several billion magnetic particles “tuned in” to background planetary frequencies that form the natural electromagnetic field surrounding us. Today, Earth’s field is polluted with technologically produced frequencies (EMFs), so the brain receives electromagnetic “junk” produced by AC electricity and wireless technology and transmits this junk to the cells.
