Is Constant Wi-Fi Exposure Impacting Your Heart Disease Risk?

We are using more and more wireless gadgets to monitor our health, increasing our exposure to electromagnetic radiation.

Electrical impulses are what trigger the heart to beat. This internal electrical system is vulnerable to outside electromagnetic fields. Cardiac conditions including  angina,  arrhythmia, hypertension, and tachycardia have been linked to exposure to electromagnetic radiation.

Is Constant WiFi Exposure Impacting Your Heart Disease Risk?
Lisa Nelson, RD, LN Health Pro, healthcentral.com, 13 February 2012

Heart disease is a lifestyle disease. Yes, there are genetic or hereditary factors that play a role, but how you choose to live has a major impact. By lifestyle this makes me automatically think diet choices and activity level, but there are other factors that fall under "lifestyle".

Some of these factors would include:

Do you smoke?
Do you live under high levels of stress?

Have you ever thought about wifi or cell phone radiation as contributing?

You are probably familiar with the concerns about living too close to high voltage power lines. Power lines emit electromagnetic radiation. Did you know many other things you probably bring into your home emit this same radiation? Microwave ovens, cell phones, wireless routers, game stations, cordless phones, etc.

Granted at lower levels, but still you are living in an environment receiving constant exposure to low dose radiation.

Before I go further, let me clarify that there are researchers on both "sides of the fence" on this issue. Some studies show no connection between the constant low dose radiation exposure and health (many of which are funded by wireless companies) and other studies that show a direct correlation.

In this article I'm not able to share with you everything you need to know to explain why you need to be concerned and the steps you can take, but my goal is to make you aware of this so you can look further and learn more about what you need to do to protect yourself and your family.

Health Connections

Here are the different conditions and symptoms that have a link to electromagnetic radiation:

Allergies
ALS
Alzheimer's
ADD/ADHD
Asperger's syndrome
Autism Spectrum Disorder
Cancer
Cataracts
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Depression
Dizziness
Headaches/Migraines
Infertility
Insomnia
Immune Suppression
Tinnitus
Parkinsonn's
Sleep Disorders

Cardiac conditions including angina, arrhythmia, hypertension, and tachycardia

Electrical impulses are what trigger the heart to beat. This internal electrical system is vulnerable to outside electromagnetic fields.

If you are consistently exposed to electromagnetic radiation you may feel irregularities in your heart rate and rhythm. The electromagnetic radiation can also lead to increased levels of free radicals, which then impact inflammation.Inflammation has a direct connection to heart disease.

Here are a few of the biological effects of electromagnetic radiation:

DNA damage and disrupted DNA repair
Immune system suppression
Irregular functioning of neurological, cardiovascular, and endocrine systems
Leakage between the blood-brain barrier
Impaired cognitive function and reaction time
Increased sleep disruptions and agitation
Disrupted communication between cells

What can you do to reduce your exposure?

Connect your home computer to the internet via an Ethernet cable, shut off/disable the wireless router. If you must have wifi access, only turn it on when you are using it.

Turn off the wifi receiving ability on your computer or wireless device so it's not constantly sending out electromagnetic radiation searching for a signal.

Get rid of the cellphone. . .I know, easier said than done. Use speaker phone when you have to use a cell phone. Keep it away from your body when texting/sending messages. Do not carry it on your person, if you do, carry it so the back/antenna is facing away from the body. DO NOT carry it in a pocket near your heart. Turn it off when you are not using it.

Do not use your cellphone, itouch, etc. as an alarm clock. Keep if off when you are sleeping and outside your bedroom.

Unplug game systems when they are not being used (xbox, playstation, wii).

Get rid of any cordless phones in the house, particularly DECT 6.0 and 5.8 GHz. Replace with corded landlines.

Step out of the kitchen when you turn on the microwave.

More information. . .

There is so much more information I want to share with you regarding this concern. The checklist above of "what can you do" is really my checklist for what directly impacted my home. There are many other things to consider and steps you can take to keep your home a "safe haven".

A book I've recently read with great information on this subject is titled "Wireless Radiation Rescue" by Dr. Kerry Crofton.

I haven't even touched on the significantly increased risk of developing a brain tumor if you spend more than 500 minutes a month of the cell phone or that some countries in Europe are already banning wifi in schools or how children are at significantly increased risk or. . . the list goes on.

There is a lot more to learn on this subject and if you have symptoms your doctor cannot find a cause for. . .maybe it's worth a little trial and error to cut down your exposure to electromagnetic radiation.
