A Deputy is concerned about electrosensitive people this month of August
by jay, electrosensible,info, 30 August 2016 (translated by the Editor of "Towards Better Health")

The issue of electrosensitivity does not generally inspire politicians despite its having been introduced through the Abeille Law where an article requests obligatory reporting by the French health agency ANSES, but apart from this, nothing new.

In spite of the flagrant lack of inspiration regarding this condition on the part of a majority of our representatives, the Deputy Jean-Claude Buisine put the question to the government at the beginning of August, for the attention of the Minister for Social Affairs and Health, Marisol Touraine.

This Deputy from Somme wants to draw the attention of the Minister to our plight, which, it must be said, is not really glorious as he says, since some persons are obliged to abandon everything and face a kind of Kafkaesque wall erected in our society preventing us from being acknowledged, be it medically or socially.

by Andrew Blake, The Washington Times,
30 August 2016

Concerns raised by the release of a report last week highlighting supposed security vulnerabilities affecting pacemakers, defibrillators and other medical devices have prompted attorneys to pursue a class-action lawsuit against their manufacturer, St. Jude Medical.

Lawyers for defibrillator patient Clinton W. Ross Jr. filed the class-action complaint Friday in Los Angeles federal court, one day after short-selling firm Muddy Waters accused St. Jude of selling implanted heart devices that are vulnerable to cyberattack.

Mr. Ross would not have undergone surgery last November to be implanted with a St. Jude device had he been aware of the “severe security vulnerabilities” detailed in the recent report, his attorneys wrote in Friday’s court filing.

ABC Australia Bid to Sideline Science Reporter, Dr. Maryanne Demasi: Update

Wi-Fi stuff-up: ABC bid to sideline science reporter
by Sam Varghese, itwire.com, 29 August 2016

The episode of the ABC's main science programme Catalyst screened on Tuesday night (23 August) on Alzheimer's disease gave no credit to reporter Dr Maryanne Demasi, despite including interviews she had done, reliable sources have told iTWire.

Demasi's name was not even in the numerous credits at the end of the transcript and the sources say this may indicate the corporation is sharpening its knives to get rid of her.

A reporter on the programme for the last 10 years, Demasi was taken off on-air duties until September after a programme she made, on mobiles and Wi-Fi and their alleged connection to cancer, was pulled off the corporation's website in July following a long inquiry. The programme went to air in February and earned its fair share of criticism.

The ABC has some form with regard to forcing out any staffer who attracts controversy.

Dear World Health Organization Representatives at the Regional Office for Europe, Sg. Minister Dr. Sabine Oberhauser,

Stop the Wi-Fi and mobile communications mania and ignoring human rights!

Everyone can decide freely about his life - then he shall also be free to decide whether he wants to use Wi-Fi and other wireless technologies. We have the right to do so!   There must also be zones for people who are not willing to sacrifice their health for this.

I call for awareness of the health effects caused by the now considerably increasing radiation in the high frequency range.

New York Subway Is Offering Free eBooks (and Wi-Fi) for Your Commute

Our comment:  What about electrosensitive persons?  Why can't people just switch off for a time during their commute?  Someone should educate N.Y. Governor Cuomo who says,“New York’s transportation network must continue adapting to the changing needs of its ridership and a key part of that is delivering the amenities that have become essential components of everyday life.”  Essential amenity?  More like spraying oneself and one's fellow passengers with a class 2B carcinogen.

One of Apple's largest component suppliers, Samsung Electronics, is the subject of a new investigative report regarding its withholding of critical information about the toxic chemicals its employees were exposed to while working in the company's factories.

According to a report by Youkyung Lee for the Associated Press, a worker safety group has documented over 200 cases of serious illnesses among former Samsung employees working in semiconductor and LCD factories.

Employees in their 20s and 30s have developed leukemia, lupus, lymphoma and multiple sclerosis, and at least 76 have died. However, the South Korean government has both made it difficult for poisoned workers to get any compensation related to occupational disease, and allowed Samsung to withhold from its employees any details about their exposure to toxic chemicals.

U.S. Ranks First in Health Care Spending, but Cancer Outcomes Do Not Reflect the Investment, Study Finds

U.S. Ranks First in Health Care Spending, but Cancer Outcomes Do Not Reflect the Investment, Study Finds
finance.yahoo.com / Marketwired, 12 August 2016

FORT WASHINGTON, PA--(Marketwired - August 12, 2016) - The U.S. health care system is characterized-on a global level-by its unsustainable health care spending, which does not necessarily correlate to better outcomes in patients with cancer. With $2.9 trillion spent on U.S. health care in 2013, the United States ranks first in health care spending among the world's leading economies.[1]

To investigate the implications of socioeconomic status (SES) and health expenditures on cancer outcomes and mortality, researchers at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, led by Jad Chahoud, MD, conducted an ecological study at the state level for three distinct patient populations: breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and all-cancer populations. Dr. Chahoud and his associates found that high health care spending did not correlate with better outcomes and lower mortality in colorectal cancer and all cancers, but that state-level SES and wealth does have a positive impact on cancer outcomes and mortality.

The study, "Wealth, Health Expenditure, and Cancer: A National Perspective," was published today in the August issue of JNCCN - Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and is available free-of-charge at JNCCN.org through October 31, 2016.

Unfortunately, the jury is out on potential longterm hazards. The widespread use of technology in the home is growing too quickly for doctors and researchers to study conclusively how it affects kids longterm.

The biomedical evidence showing that the radiofrequency radiation emitted by cell phones and cell towers is harmful to health continues to grow. This document summarizes the health argument against cellular technology, whatever the benefits of that technology may be. You may wish to inform yourself about these arguments for any of several reasons:

  • You use a cell phone.
  • You encourage, or do not discourage, the use of cell phones by family members.
  • You live in, or are contemplating moving into, a community close to a cell tower.
  • Your school or college is considering permitting the installation of a cell tower on its property.
  • Your community is considering permitting the installation of cellular repeaters, small-cell towers, or even full cell towers within its jurisdiction.

Activists urge resurrection of California case about 'connected' cars

A team of privacy experts is urging a California appeals court to resurrect a case spotlighting the hacking of computers in cars, warning breaches could result not only in stolen identity but physical injury.

“‘Connected vehicles’ expose American drivers to the risks of data breach, auto theft, and physical injury,” the Electronic Privacy Information Center asserted in a friend-of-the-court brief to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

They, and others, are asking that a lawsuit out of San Francisco be restored. The case, Helene Cahen v. Toyota, focuses on the electronic monitoring and Internet connectivity built into cars. A trial judge dismissed the case for lack of standing, but the brief contends the ruling should be reversed.

And it’s no longer just about privacy, it’s about public safety, too, the the brief argues.

by Asanda Sokanyile. Weekend Argus, iol.co.za, 12 August 2016

TWO applications to the City of Cape Town for cellphone masts in Kommetjie have sparked panic and concerns about possible associated health risks.

The research isn’t conclusive on how safe base telecommunications stations are, but Kommetjie residents say they’re not prepared to take chances.

According to the city’s telecommunication mast infrastructure policy document, the “council must satisfy itself that it is addressing its responsibility, its duties towards its community placed upon it, in this case its obligation to provide a safe and healthy environment and to promote the economic well-being of the municipal area”.

The residents, however, say they believe everything but their health and safety has been taken into consideration.

Due to atmospheric circulation and gravitational deposition, large-scale population exposures to atmospherically-injected SRM [Solar Radiation Management] materials will almost certainly occur after their deployment. Population exposures could also occur through ingestion of food and water contaminated with deposited particles, as well as transdermally...  Population exposures to SRM materials will be continuous and prolonged over months to years… Thus the health effects will be primarily chronic in nature.

New study one step closer to linking cell phone radiation and cancer
by Take Care Staff, wrvo.org, 13 August 2016

If you were asked what the best place for your cell phone is, you might say your pocket. But a recent study has shown keeping your cell phone on your person may be connected to certain types of cancer.

This week on “Take Care,” journalist Dina Fine Maron shares the findings of this study. Maron’s article, “Major Cell Phone Radiation Study Reignites Cancer Questions,” appeared in Scientific Americanin May 2016. Maron is an award winning journalist, the health and medicine editor for Scientific American, and is a contributor to the publication's podcasts and Instant Egghead video series.

The study conducted cost $25 million and was performed on rodents, says Maron. These rodents were exposed to the same type of radiation emitted from cell phones (non-ionizing radiation) for nine hours a day over the course of their two year life span, according to Maron.

“The study presents the strongest evidence so far, that such exposure is associated with the formation of rare cancers, and at least two cell types of the brain and the heart of rats,” Maron said.

Cancer Now Leading Killer in 12 European Nations
by Robert Preidt, HealthDay Reporter, usnews.com, 15 August

MONDAY, Aug. 15, 2016 (HealthDay News) -- Cancer has overtaken heart disease and stroke as the leading cause of death in 12 European countries, a new study reports.

However, cardiovascular disease (heart disease and stroke) is still the leading cause of death worldwide, killing more than 17 million people a year, according to the study.

In the 53 countries defined as the European region by the World Health Organization, heart disease killed more than 4 million people in 2016. Those deaths accounted for 45 percent of all deaths in those nations. Cancer accounted for less than half the number of deaths from heart disease in Europe as a whole, researchers said.

However, success in preventing and treating heart disease seems to have led to large declines in heart disease deaths in a number of countries.

Cancer now kills more men than heart disease in these 12 countries: Belgium, Denmark, France, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain and the United Kingdom, the study showed.

For additional evidence that cellphone and cordless phone use increase
brain tumor risk and that brain tumor incidence has been increasing in the U.S.

Hardell and Carlberg (2015) reported that brain tumor rates have been increasing in Sweden based upon the Swedish National Inpatient Registry data.

What about brain tumor rates in the United States?

Using national tumor registry data, a recent study found that the overall incidence of meningioma, the most common non-malignant brain tumor, has significantly increased in the United States in recent years (Dolecek et al., 2015). The age-adjusted incidence rate for meningioma significantly increased from about 6.3 per 100,000 in 2004 to about 7.8 per 100,000 in 2009. Brain tumor incidence increased for all age groups except youth (0-19 years of age).

United Kingdom: Google Rolls Out Virtual Reality to School Children

The new system allows an entire classroom to don headsets and take
part in the same Virtual Reality experience, controlled by a teacher.
Google is rolling virtual reality out to UK school children. Dave Ashton comments: "This is utterly unbelievable - the insanity of young children putting microwave-emitting phones in cardboard boxes, right by their eyes and brain. How on earth can school managers, teachers, and parents let this happen? Why do so few of them seem to be asking serious questions, and why are so few of them informed?

Microwave radiation is a group 2B carcinogen which is linked to scores of health issues, including cancer and cataract formation (as well as heart disease, loss of fertility, neurological issues, autism - the list is endless). The $25m National Toxicology Study in the US has found that exposure to this radiation at levels too low to cause significant heating still resulted in heart and brain tumours in some of the exposed rats. For goodness sake, wake up people, and protect your children."

US fertility rate falls to lowest on record
by Madison Park, CNN, 11 August 2016

(CNN) The US fertility rate fell to the lowest point since record keeping started more than a century ago, according to statistics released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In 1909, the government began keeping track of what's called the fertility rate. The general fertility rate is the number of births out of 1,000 women between the ages of 15 to 44.

In the first three months of 2016, the fertility rate in the US fell to the lowest level. The rate was 59.8 births per 1,000 women.

Dr. Nicholas Kardaras argues that juvenile tech addiction is a public health crisis

Addiction psychologist Nicholas Kardaras still remembers the “aha moment” ten years ago when he realized that juvenile tech addiction was a public health crisis.

A young man who compulsively played World of Warcraft for 12 hours a day came into his office. He had lost touch with reality after spending so much time in the virtual world, and so thought the office was another level in the game. The boy ended up being sent to a psychiatric hospital.

“I saw the digital scourge impact him in a way that looked not only like clinical addiction but psychosis as well,” Kardaras told the Observer. “This digital psychosis is a strange new phenomenon we haven’t really dealt with.”

Kardaras has spent the last decade examining young tech addicts, and the result is the book Glow Kids: How Screen Addiction Is Hijacking Our Kids—and How to Break the Trance, which will be released August 9.

Radiating Corruption: The Frightening Science and Politics of Cell Phone Safety
by Gary Null Ph.D, Guest Writer for Wake Up World, 1st August 2016

In an article published in the New York Times in January 2016 entitled “At C.D.C., a Debate Behind Recommendations on Cellphone Risk”, author Danny Hakim discusses the controversy surrounding the potential health risks of using cell phones. Hakim writes that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued guidelines recommending “caution in cellphone use”, due to the potentially harmful effects of radiation emitted by the wireless devices on human health. Included in the guidelines was information about reducing exposure among children. Just a few weeks after the CDC’s publication, and amid rising concerns about cell phone safety, the CDC rescinded the advisory completely.

Today, the CDC website takes an ambiguous stance on the issue, stating: “Can using a cell phone cause cancer? There is no scientific evidence that provides a definite answer to that question. Some organizations recommend caution in cell phone use. More research is needed before we know if using cell phones causes health effects.” (1)

Zach's mother:  "I have watched my only child age decades within the span of less than 2 years. It has taken a year and a half later for him to finally find a group of doctors who believe he is Gardasil injured, but they do not know how to treat him."

In 2014, at the age of 18 and a half, Zach was a first semester full-time college student and worked a laborious job roughly 30 hours a week. His life was on track, he was social, active and happy. Zach swam like a fish in the water with a body built for track who walked miles almost every day.

In early October that same year, Zach sustained an ankle injury which placed him out of work while he recovered. During this October 3rd appointment for his ankle, he was talked into a flu vaccination. October 13th, Zach returned for a follow up and was talked into accepting the Gardasil and meningococcal vaccines. It was shortly after this that the first phase of his health decline began.

Two Unexpected Ways Pokemon GO Can Affect Eye Health

Two Unexpected Ways Pokemon GO Can Affect Eye Health
Parent Herald, 9 August 2016

Pokemon GO is undoubtedly a top tech craze of the summer, but some doctors are concerned that the game may be contributing to digital eye strain among children and adolescents.

Parents who limit screen time during the school year may see summer as time to let kids indulge in tech activities unfettered. While encouraging physical activity through playing the game is certainly a win, parents should be mindful of the risks associated with digital eye strain and ensure proper UV protection for eyes as well as skin before kids set out on their next adventure to "catch 'em all."

The potential pitfall of marathon Pokemon GO sessions is they contribute to increased time spent staring at screens, which can have long-term adverse effects on eye and vision health. Cell phone screens emit blue light radiation called High Energy Visible Blue Light, which can throw off sleep patterns in the short term and damage the photoreceptors in the eyes over time.

Electromagnetic Fields in Schools: A Precautionary Approach

EMF in schools: a precautionary approach
by Jo Williams, Educator, Coach, Speaker, linkedin.com,

Concern over children’s chronic exposure to electric and magnetic fields (EMF) is increasing alongside the rapid rise of technology, the prolific use of wireless devices by very young children both at home and school, and new environmental illnesses that are emerging. Despite wireless computer networks (WiFi) being used in schools for years, it was only in 2010 that the first study of its health effects were published. Technological development has outpaced scientific knowledge. This is why we need to take a precautionary approach when implementing BYOD practices (bring your own device) and WiFi technology in the classroom: anything else would be highly hazardous.

What is WiFi and how can it affect us?

Florida to Spray Residents Like Bugs Over Zika - with a Chemical that Ironically Reduces Fetal Brain Size in Studies

Pregnant women should avoid the areas being sprayed, because "according to the Northwest Center for Alternatives to Pesticides factsheet on Naled, studies have shown that exposure of pregnant animals to for just three days during brain development resulted in 15% smaller brains in their babies, and an increase in aggressiveness and memory deterioration."

The zika psyop continues…

An aerial insecticide spraying campaign began at dawn this morning in Florida to kill mosquitoes that might be infected with the zika virus. The spray will cover a 10-mile area in Miami. Health officials claim the the chemical to be sprayed, an organophosphate neurotoxin called Naled, is “safe” to breathe and no one really needs to take any special measures while they are being sprayed like bugs (although it has been “recommended” that people with allergies stay inside).

The Dangers from 5G Millimeter Waves

"Widespread use of 60GHz radiation is opening a Pandora's box beyond the comprehension of our legislators, and, apparently, beyond most of our scientists."

A quick backgrounder on the dangers from 5G Millimeter-Waves - by Professor Trevor Marshall (via Mobilfunk/Omega Group)

by Trevor Marshall, posted 9 August 2016

Very high frequency Microwave signals emit Millimeter Waves, so called because the wavelengths are smaller (typically 5mm) rather than the 16cm microwaves from 2.4GHz WiFi. Yet these millimetre waves can do much more damage to human metabolism than microwaves.

If you read through our recent paper (1) explaining the mechanism by which Microwave Photons disturb the operation of molecules within our cells, you can see that the energy of WiFi Microwave Photons, for photons are the appropriate fundamental measure of electromagnetic energy when dealing with molecules, is around 5 ueV at 2.4GHz. But at 60GHz, the millimetre waves to be used by 5G have an energy 25 times higher, at about 122 ueV. In order for a Hydrogen Bond to be displaced and trigger disease dysfunction, an energy of 10-20meV is needed. This takes around 3000 photons from a 2.4GHz WiFi system, but only 120 photons at millimetre wavelengths.

New study shows deadly bacteria levels spiking in North Atlantic as ocean temperatures rise

It's no secret that we have trashed, poisoned, and warmed oceans at an unprecedented ratevia human-caused climate change and pollution.

It seems that oceans may be paying us back in kind, according to a new study that found levels of bacteria responsible for life-threatening illnesses spiking in the North Atlantic region.

The study published Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS) discovered that a deadly variety of bacteria known as vibrio is spreading rapidly throughout the Atlantic as a result of hotter ocean temperatures.

“When an old man dies, a library burns to the ground.” – African proverb

In the wake of more than 50 holistic doctors dying in questionable circumstances over the last year, Dr. Sebi — known as the man who developed an all-natural cure for AIDS, cancer, diabetes and other diseases — has died while imprisoned in Honduras. He was 82 years old.

Dr. Sebi died shortly after he was arrested for (allegedly) being in the illegal possession of $37,000 dollars at the airport in Roatán, an island in the Caribbean about 40 miles off the coast of Honduras. While it is claimed that Dr. Sebi was arrested on suspicion of money laundering, “there are already doubters, including those close to him, that question his arrest and manner in which he died while in custody (which is shrouded in mystery),” writes Erin Elizabeth of Healthnut News.

Small Cells Get a Boost from FCC Agreement

Now, the FCC will spread its deadly 5G tentacles... to historic sites.

Small cells get a boost from FCC agreement

The Federal Communications Commission is eliminating requirements for historic preservation review for small cells that do not adversely impact historic sites. The agency said “physically small deployments like DAS and small cells” will be exempt from the Section 106 review process. Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act requires federal agencies to consider the effects of federally funded projects on historic properties prior to the expenditure of any federal funds. Most small cells are not financed by federal funds, but historic review requirements can nonetheless delay deployments.

New York: Resident Calls For Wi-Fi Routers To Be Removed From Westhampton Beach Schools, Library

Resident Calls For Wi-Fi Routers To Be Removed From Westhampton Beach Schools, Library
by Erin McKinley, 27east.com, 9 August 2016

A Westhampton Beach resident is calling for all Wi-Fi routers to be removed from local schools and the Westhampton Free Library, citing health concerns.

Jack O’Dwyer has been repeatedly petitioning Westhampton Beach Village Hall and library officials for the past several months, requesting to examine their respective Wi-Fi routers so he can log the model numbers. He has also stated on multiple occasions that the devices at both locations, as well as those inside Westhampton Beach schools, are emitting high levels of radiation as per the readouts on his acoustimeter, a device that measures the amount of radiation in a specific area.

Mr. O’Dwyer said he has read studies by Dr. Cindy Sage, an environmental sciences company owner in California, and Dr. Martha Herbert, a Harvard professor specializing in pediatric autism and neurology, that attribute the radiation emitted from the units to both cancer and autism. Therefore, he thinks the Wi-Fi units should be removed from all public spaces in the village.

New Blog Describes What It Is Like to Live with Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS) in the Modern World

Dave Ashton, the author of this post "Joining Up the Dots", is also the creator of this excellent new blog,

I am honored to work with him.  His awareness-raising and understanding of the issues of the effects of wireless technology and electrohypersensitivity have been invaluable in carrying out our advocacy in Switzerland.

Dave describes his blog:

"The blog publishes articles on what it is like to live with electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS) in the modern world, written by people who know only too well.

I'd welcome contributions for publishing - please send me an email to have your story included, or contact me via one of the Facebook links.

Very often, articles in the media seek to dismiss electrosensitivity as a psychological issue, and one that is unrelated to electromagnetic fields and radiation.

I believe that the scientific evidence shows that this industry-friendly view of the condition is catastrophically wrong, and I hope that the tales of what electrosensitive people have to endure, and what our backgrounds are, will help to dispel the myth that we have some irrational fear of technology, and that it's "all in our heads".

Please join me on this quest for recognition of this debilitating condition, and for the support and empathy of those around us.

United States: Amid Zika Scare, FDA Clears Way for GMO Mosquito Trial in Florida

Opponents warn that "the impact could be irreversible... Allowing uncontrollable genetically altered life forms into the wild is not justified."

In a move that public health advocates are calling "irresponsible and frightening," the U.S. Food and Drug Association on Friday cleared the experimental release of genetically modified mosquitoes in Key Haven, Florida.

Why Geographic Cancer Clusters Are Hard to Prove
by Linda Marsa, europe.newsweek.com,
18 July 2016

Some 15.5 million Americans alive today have beaten cancer; that number is projected to rise to more than 20 million by 2026. Those figures are a testament to the huge advances made in medicine. But breakthroughs in science are useless when patients are shunned by society and denied the care they need. This week, Newsweek looks at how factors such as race or ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, geography and income can determine whether a cancer patient lives or dies, in a special issue, “Curing Cancer.”

Updated | Danielle Bailey-Lash had agonizing headaches. The pain radiated from her neck to the top of her head and after weeks became so excruciating that she finally went to the emergency room. There, a scan revealed a tumor the size of a juice box on the right side of her brain. The then-35-year-old mother of two always prided herself on being healthy—she got plenty of exercise and never smoked or drank, so she was shocked to hear the diagnosis: Stage III astrocytoma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. Doctors told her she had six months to live.

“I was devastated,” says Bailey-Lash, now 41. After surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, Bailey-Lash is now in remission, but the brush with death prompted her to question why she got sick—and why so many others who lived in her sleepy lakeside community in Belews Creek, North Carolina, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, were stricken with cancer too.

The likely culprit seemed to be right in front of her: Just 100 yards from her house is a storage pond used by Duke Energy to collect waste from its coal-fired power plant 4 miles down the road. The man-made lake contains 4 billion gallons of coal ash slurry, a mixture of water and ash produced from burning coal.

Debilitated by electro hypersensitivity...
by Karen Watkins, iol.co.za, 28 July 2016

John Gardner has permanent ringing in his ears and insomnia.

It was 10 years ago - his memory is fuzzy as to the exact timeline - that he suffered debilitating head pain and ended up in a geriatric psychological ward, heavily sedated, believed to be suicidal.

Unable to work he lost his surgery, his wife and his home. He believes it began with the introduction of wi-fi and 4G (the fourth generation of wireless mobile telecommunications technology).

He now warns that wi-fi and cordless phones are radiating 24 hours a day and are the equivalent of having a cell tower in your house.

In 2004 Karen Geranios of Lakeside collapsed, ending up in a trauma ward with symptoms diagnosed as psychosomatic and blamed on stress.

Katie Singer Explains "5G" Wireless Transmission

"Since insects, including bees, are tiny, might they be especially impacted by 5G's millimeter waves? How will 5G affect sleep, sperm, pregnant women, infants, children, people with implants, rooftop workers? Will 5G antennas and devices affect rates of autism, ADHD, Alzheimer's, depression, skin cancer, vision including cataracts, tech-addiction?"

Katie Singer Explains “5G” Wireless Transmission
by Jack O'Dwyer, odwyerpr.com, 3 August 2016

Radiation health advocate Katie Singer has provided a detailed explanation of what is meant by “5G,” a new form of wireless transmission approved by the Federal Communications Commission July 14. The other “4G’s” are also explained.

The vote in favor of “Spectrum Frontiers” gives the FCC authority to allocate or rent 5G (5th generation) bandwidth.

Singer, author of An Electronic Silent Spring, published in 2014 by Steiner Books, notes that Congress passed the Telecommunications Act of 1996 that prohibits environmental and health concerns from interfering with the placement of telecom equipment.

Health advocates say the effects of pulsed radiation on people have largely been ignored by the media, governments, libraries, and schools. Firefighters, who have blocked the erection of cellphone towers on firehouses, are one of the few groups openly fighting radiation threats. The website of the International Firefighters Assn., with 300,000 members, has a 27,539-word document describing the health threats supported by links to 48 scientific sources.

We Need a Healthy Dose of Lifestyle Medicine

Doctors must swap flawed treatments for diabetes for
preventive approaches.

John Ioannidis, professor of medicine and health policy at Stanford University, concluded, in a paper published more than 10 years ago, that most published medical research is likely to be false. “The greater the financial interests in a given field,” he noted, “the less likely the research findings are to be true.”

We need a healthy dose of lifestyle medicine
by Aseem Malhotra, telegraph.co,
4 August 2016

I recently saw a woman in her early sixties who was terrified because her GP had told her that her cholesterol was high. “Congratulations,” I said. “That will probably help you live longer.” She left smiling. It is little wonder she had been scared. For decades, governments have issued “low fat” dietary advice, while consumption of sugars and refined carbohydrates has soared. The result has been twin epidemics of type 2 diabetes and obesity – and a bloated medical bill to match. The time has come for an urgent overhaul.

There is no association between so-called “bad cholesterol” and cardiovascular disease in the over-60s. In fact, if you consider all causes of death, the trend is for fewer deaths the higher the cholesterol. One explanation is that cholesterol is involved in immune system protection against potentially fatal gastrointestinal and respiratory infections and possibly even cancer.

Basis Peak Smartwatch Owners Burned as Intel Issues Full Recall for 'Overheating' Wearable

Basis Peak owners burned as Intel issues full recall for 'overheating' wearable
by Carly Page, theinquirer.net, 4 August 2016

Basis will also shut down its online services later this year

CHIPMAKER INTEL has issued a full recall of the Basis Peak smartwatch following reports of an overheating problem.

Intel-owned Basis halted sales of the Peak a few weeks ago following reports of the overheating. The company claimed that the fault, which has caused some users to suffer burns and blistering, has affected just 0.2 per cent of Basis Peak wearers but has now issued a total recall of the product.

The problem is attributed to an active LED on the rear of the Basis Peak smartwatch that continuously monitors the wearer's heart rate.

United States: Cyber Ransom Attacks Panic Hospitals, Alarm Congress

Cyber ransom attacks panic hospitals, alarm Congress
by Arthur Allen, politico.com,
18 July 2016 [Extracts]

When the Obama administration pushed out a $35 billion incentive program to pay doctors and hospitals to convert to electronic records, the idea was to modernize the health care industry, not serve it up on a platter to cyber criminals.

But now, American hospitals face weekly ransom threats. If they don’t pay up, files get frozen, surgeries delayed and patients sent across town. One of these days, someone could die as a result. And no one in government has a clear plan to handle it.
