ICNIRP Guidelines’ Exposure Assessment Method for 5G Millimetre Wave Radiation May Trigger Adverse Effects

Extract from conclusions: Once the 5G mmW band is internationally operational, a significant proportion of the world’s population will be exposed to new hazards. The intensity and complexity of near-field exposure, such as when carrying a phone in a pocket or using it next to the head, will be different for 5G, and this is the first time mmW have been used for public telecommunications and the first time beamforming has been deliberately introduced for near-field use. Without research on the impact of near-field 5G, this global step is an experiment at the population level.

ICNIRP Guidelines’ Exposure Assessment Method for 5G Millimetre Wave Radiation May Trigger Adverse Effects

Abstract

The current global roll-out of 5G infrastructure is designed to utilise millimetre wave frequencies (30–300 GHz range) at data transmission rates in the order of gigabits per second (Gbps). This frequency band will be transmitted using beamforming, a new introduction in near-field exposures. The International Commission on Non-Ionising Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) has recently updated their guidelines. We briefly examine whether the new approach of the ICNIRP is satisfactory to prevent heat damage and other adverse bio-effects once millimetre wave 5G is included, and we challenge the use of surface-only exposure assessment for local exposures greater than 6 GHz in part due to possible Brillouin precursor pulse formation. However, this is relevant whether or not Brillouin precursors occur from absorption of either 5G or future G transmissions. Many significant sources conclude there is insufficient research to assure safety even from the heat perspective. To date, there has been no published in vivo, in vitro or epidemiological research using exposures to 5G New Radio beam-formed signals.

Michigan: Scientist says T-Mobile cell equipment on top of Wyandotte school is a health danger

Scientist says T-Mobile cell equipment on top of Wyandotte school is a health danger
By Brandon Hudson , David Komer and online producer, Wyandotte FOX 2 Detroit, 24 March 2023

WYANDOTTE, Mich. (FOX 2) - Families and elected leaders in Wyandotte marched the streets to protest the 5G cell equipment on an elementary school property on Friday.

They are hoping T-Mobile will get the message. While the cell provider, and some government agencies say the radiation won’t harm kids and teachers, one scientist says the parents are justified in their concerns.

While the topic has seemingly divided Wyandotte, it’s not the only community fighting this battle with similar reports from Connecticut to Pennsylvania to Virginia.

California Brain Tumor Association, March 2023

They’ve been lying to you for years: YOUR CELL PHONE IS DANGEROUS!

Over 5 billion of us use cell phones that we generally keep very close – from a very young age. But the companies that manufacture our precious smartphones have knowingly exposed us to radio-wave radiation well beyond safety standards. To make matters worse, some of them have even embedded software that rigs test results – just like Dieselgate.

This scandal has a name: PHONEGATE.

In 2016, Dr. Marc Arazi obtained proof that enabled him to denounce this fraud. With the help of brave men and women the world over – doctors, lawyers, politicians, scientists, friends and devoted volunteers from all walks of life — he has been fighting to bring the truth to light ever since. In 2018, the NGO Phonegate Alert was founded to support them in that task.

The issue gained attention in the US after articles published in the Chicago Tribune in 2019 by journalist and Pulitzer Prize winner Sam Roe. As a result, the first class action suits were launched in America and Canada against Apple and Samsung.

1 in 36 Kids Have Autism, CDC Says — Critics Slam Agency’s Failure to Investigate Causes

By Brenda Baletti, Ph.D., childrenshealthdefense.org, 23 March 2023

One in 36 (2.8%) 8-year-old children — 4% of boys and 1% of girls — have an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), based on an analysis of data from 2020, published today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The latest findings, reported in the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, show an increase from the last report, which found 1 in 44 8-year-olds (2.3%) had autism in 2018.

Since the CDC started collecting the data, prevalence estimates have skyrocketed from 1 in 150 in 2000, to today’s estimate of 1 in 36 children.

Children today are conceived and live in a sea of wireless radiation that did not exist when their parents were born. The launch of the digital age continues to transform the capacity to respond to emergencies and extend global communications. At the same time that this increasingly ubiquitous technology continues to alter the nature of commerce, medicine, transport and modern life overall, its varied and changing forms have not been evaluated for their biological or environmental impacts. Standards for evaluating radiation from numerous wireless devices were first set in 1996 to avoid heating tissue and remain unchanged since then in the U.S. and many other nations. A wide range of evidence indicates that there are numerous non-thermal effects from wireless radiation on reproduction, development, and chronic illness. Many widely used devices such as phones and tablets function as two-way microwave radios, sending and receiving various frequencies of information-carrying microwave radiation on multiple simultaneously operating antennas. Expert groups advising governments on this matter do not agree on the best approaches to be taken. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends limited screen time for children under the age of two, but more than half of all toddlers regularly have contact with screens, often without parental engagement. Young children of parents who frequently use devices as a form of childcare can experience delays in speech acquisition and bonding, while older children report feelings of disappointment due to ‘technoference’—parental distraction due to technology. Children who begin using devices early in life can become socially, psychologically and physically addicted to the technology and experience withdrawal upon cessation. We review relevant experimental, epidemiological and clinical evidence on biological and other impacts of currently used wireless technology, including advice to include key questions at pediatric wellness checkups from infancy to young adulthood. We conclude that consistent with advice in pediatric radiology, an approach that recommends that microwave radiation exposures be As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) seems sensible and prudent, and that an independently-funded training, research and monitoring program should be carried out on the long term physical and psychological impacts of rapidly changing technological milieu, including ways to mitigate impacts through modifications in hardware and software. Current knowledge of electrohypersensitivity indicates the importance of reducing wireless exposures especially in schools and health care settings.

United States: Children's Health Defense Asks U.S. Supreme Court to Rule in Cellphone Radiation Case Against Apple

We thank Children's Health Defense and the other non-profits which have filed an amicus brief in support of plaintiffs in a lawsuit against Apple. It all began in August 2019 when the Chicago Tribune published an article by Sam Roe on the results of more than a year of investigative work on testing of popular cellphones for radiofrequency radiation. Roe had contacted Dr. Marc Arazi, when he discovered information about the Phonegate industrial and health scandal following the revelations obtained from the test reports carried out by the French National Frequencies Agency (ANFR).

CHD Asks U.S. Supreme Court to Rule in Cellphone Radiation Case Against Apple
By Suzanne Burdick, Ph.D., childrenshealthdefense.org, 16 March 2023

Children’s Health Defense (CHD) and eight nonprofits on Wednesday filed an amicus brief in support of plaintiffs in a lawsuit against Apple.

The plaintiffs are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to decide if the Federal Communication Commission’s (FCC) cellphone radiation guidelines preempt state safety and health laws.

According to the plaintiffs, this question has been “left unresolved for more than a decade” — allowing telecommunication companies like Apple to avoid facing personal injury claims from cellphone users who allege the company violated state health and safety law by failing to inform consumers of the health risks associated with the radiofrequency (RF) radiation emitted by the phones.

“The telecom equipment industry, just like Big Pharma, thinks it should be free to inflict great harm on individuals and then force taxpayers and the rest of society to bear the cost,” said Mary Holland, Children’s Health Defense president and general counsel.

Abstract

In recent years, people’s exposure to pulsed radiofrequency (RF) or microwave radiation from wireless technologies has exploded, mainly due to the roll-out of 5G. In addition to more base stations, millions of so-called smart water and electricity meters are being installed. This technology is forced upon people near or in their own homes, despite a complete lack of research showing that 5G and wireless water and electricity meters are not harmful to human health. At the same time, the first two studies to date on the effects of 5G have shown that 5G base stations cause adverse health effects in humans and that radiation similar to 5G damages neurons in the brain in animal experiments. The brain damage observed could eventually lead to Alzheimer’s and other neurological diseases. In parallel with this explosion in radiation exposure, guidelines for permissible radiation are still being applied based on a seriously outdated approach. These guidelines only protect humans from harmful effects resulting from extreme intensive exposure that causes acute warming of the body. This means that people are completely unprotected from a range of harmful effects, such as cancer, DNA damage, oxidative stress and neurological effects that the science has repeatedly shown occur at levels well below these guidelines. They offer no protection whatsoever against harmful effects on biodiversity. Given what is known today about the risks of this technology, it must be considered a violation of human rights to impose this harmful radiation on people in their own homes without their informed consent. More stringent regulatory framework on microwave radiation from wireless technologies is urgently needed. In the meantime, further rollout of 5G must be stopped.

Research on 5G radiofrequency (RF) radiation shows it can cause brain damage and possibly lead to dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, according to nine independent experts in the RF radiation field.

In a peer-reviewed article published last week in the Annals of Clinical and Medical Case Reports, the experts called on authorities to heed the voices of the RF scientific community by establishing a “more stringent regulatory framework” on RF radiation and by halting the rollout of 5G technologies — including smart meters and 5G cell towers — until a team of “qualified scientists independent of industry” review the risks of the technology.

“The situation is absurd,” said Mona Nilsson, managing director of the Swedish Radiation Protection Foundation and lead author of the article.

Although the first two studies ever published on 5G’s effects on humans and animals reported serious adverse health effects, government authorities and telecom companies continue to put 5G cell towers and smart meters on and around people’s homes, Nilsson told The Defender.

Dr. Lennart Hardell, a leading scientist on cancer risks from radiation and co-author of the article, told the Defender, “I think it is time to have an ethical discussion.”

Six associations suspend their participation in the Radiofrequency and Health Dialogue Committee of ANSES
By : Phonegate Team • 8 March 2023

The significant and multiple current deviations of the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) on the public issue of waves do not allow our associations* to continue a constructive dialogue in confidence.

ANSES, speaking about the radiofrequency dialogue committee, wrote that its :

“ambition is to be a place of exchange, reflection and information on the scientific questions relating to the potential effects on health of radiofrequencies and their evaluation”.

The signatory associations believe that, contrary to the aforementioned ANSES petition of principle, this committee no longer presents the conditions for a true dialogue and no longer guarantees the scientific rigor that should prevail in risk assessment concerning public health issues related to electromagnetic fields.

The Xiaomi company pinned for exceeding SAR and sentenced to an administrative fine of 7,500€

In a press release published on March 1, 2023, the National Frequencies Agency (ANFR) indicates that, during an inspection, trunk SAR measurements were found to be too high on the Xiaomi Poco X3 smartphone. Its trunk SAR has been measured at 2.33 W/kg, the limit value being set at 2 W/kg. A first software update, performed by the manufacturer, did not bring it into compliance: the trunk SAR amounted to 2.67 W/kg, while the limb SAR was measured at 5.49 W/kg , for a regulatory threshold set at 4 W/kg.

Abstract

In an effort to clarify the nature of causal evidence regarding the potential impacts of RFR on biological systems, this paper relies on a well-established framework for considering causation expanded from that of Bradford Hill, that combines experimental and epidemiological evidence on carcinogenesis of RFR. The Precautionary Principle, while not perfect, has been the effective lodestone for establishing public policy to guard the safety of the general public from potentially harmful materials, practices or technologies. Yet, when considering the exposure of the public to anthropogenic electromagnetic fields, especially those arising from mobile communications and their infrastructure, it seems to be ignored. The current exposure standards recommended by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) consider only thermal effects (tissue heating) as potentially harmful. However, there is mounting evidence of non-thermal effects of exposure to electromagnetic radiation in biological systems and human populations. We review the latest literature on in vitro and in vivo studies, on clinical studies on electromagnetic hypersensitivity, as well as the epidemiological evidence for cancer due to the action of mobile based radiation exposure. We question whether the current regulatory atmosphere truly serves the public good when considered in terms of the Precautionary Principle and the principles for deducing causation established by Bradford Hill. We conclude that there is substantial scientific evidence that RFR causes cancer, endocrinological, neurological and other adverse health effects. In light of this evidence the primary mission of public bodies, such as the FCC to protect public health has not been fulfilled. Rather, we find that industry convenience is being prioritized and thereby subjecting the public to avoidable risks.
