Stop! Time is running out: Exposure to toxic fumes in aircraft

Stop! Time is running out
Identifying toxic parallels and making connections
by Bearnairdine Beaumont, bee572.substack.com, 2 December 2024

Photo ‘Middle of Nowhere’ by David Kovalenko ©
Despite decades of manufacturing experience with  the best technicians in the world, improving and modernizing aircraft in detail and performance, they still overlooked a simple, small, and, in comparison, cheap monitoring system to warn of the presence of harmful fumes entering cockpits and cabins, which happens because the filtration system and seals are not 100% functional.

Pilots, cabin crew, and passengers continue to sustain acute and chronic injuries as a result of toxic exposures, a fact that the aviation industry and our governments continue to downplay or flat-out deny.

In some people, having been exposed to toxic/chemical substances, possibly over a long period of time, the immune system becomes overloaded as it is increasingly poisoned. A TILT (toxicant-induced loss of tolerance) event occurs.

Switzerland: Massive restriction of use of cell phones in Entfelden school district

No cell phones in classrooms and on school playgrounds - this is the initial conclusion after three months
by Katja Schlegel, aargauerzeitung.ch, 4 Nov. 2024 - auto-translation

With the start of the new school year, the Entfelden district school has massively restricted the use of cell phones. Principal Darius Scheuzger talks about the positive effects and challenges.

(Photo): Cell phones on the playground: there are no more pictures like this in Unter- and Oberentfelden. Theme picture: Reto Martin

Cell phone bans at schools - it was the big topic after the summer vacations. Baden, for example, imposed such a ban on all 1,100 pupils at the Burghalde upper school; smartphones have had to stay at home since this school year. The Entfelden district school was not quite as strict, but cell phone use was also massively restricted here: since August, cell phones and other electronic devices must remain switched off during lessons, including breaks. This applies to all school areas - and school levels, so it doesn't just affect the upper school, but all 1682 schoolchildren from Ober- and Unterentfelden.

Why aren’t the French associations taking part in the ANSES consultation on the links between radio frequencies and cancer?
By : Phonegate Team • 26 Nov 2024

The French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES)
launched a public consultation on September 24, 2024, regarding its preliminary report on the links between radio frequencies and cancer. This consultation, open until November 25, 2024, invites stakeholders to comment on the agency’s provisional conclusions.

In this pre-report, ANSES concludes on page 339:

“Regardless of tumor location or biological systems analyzed in this report, the available data do not allow for a conclusion on the existence or absence of carcinogenic effects. This response also applies to the overall question of a carcinogenic effect in humans.”

This position marks a significant step back from the 2011 classification by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), which categorized radio frequencies as “possibly carcinogenic” (Group 2B).

Advisory Group recommendations on priorities for the IARC Monographs during 2025–2029: Radiofrequency electromagnetic fields including wireless mobile radiation

Advisory Group recommendations on priorities for the IARC Monographs during 2025–2029
iarc.who.int, 4 November 2024

Report of the Advisory Group to Recommend Priorities for the IARC Monographs during 2025–2029 (pp. 171-173)

Radiofrequency electromagnetic fields including wireless mobile radiation

Current IARC/WHO classification

Radiofrequency electromagnetic field (RF-EMF) radiation (including from wireless mobile telephones) has been previously classified by IARC as possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B) in IARC Monographs Volume 102 in 2011 (IARC, 2013a), based on limited evidence in humans for glioma and acoustic neuroma. RF-EMF was given a priority rating of high by the Advisory Group to Recommend Priorities for the IARC Monographs during 2020–2024 (IARC, 2019a), on the basis of new cancer bioassay evidence in two independent studies (described below).

WHO is undertaking a health risk assessment of RF-EMF for a variety of outcomes, including cancer. This will be published as a monograph in the Environmental Health Criteria series and is based on several, currently ongoing, systematic reviews commissioned by WHO (Lagorio et al., 2021; Mevissen et al., 2022).

Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) Jr. may be appointed as the nation's new secretary of Health and Human Services. He has been a critic of 5G networks and has said that wireless technology may be dangerous.

President-elect Donald Trump last week named Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) Jr. as his secretary of Health and Human Services nominee, which is noteworthy considering RFK has repeatedly cited radio frequency (RF) emissions as a health risk.

For example, as noted by the New York Times, RFK told a podcast host in 2020 that 5G was designed to harvest human data: "Why are they investing in a trillion dollars? To give you – so that you can download your video games maybe a couple of seconds faster? Or that you can download movies a couple of seconds faster? Does that make any sense to anybody? Nobody's going to pay that money for that. 5G has zero to do with giving you faster downloads. It is – it is a completely – it is a system that is completely geared towards harvesting human data."

Collective objection with over 300 signatures: This senior citizen is fighting against the planned 5G antenna
by Soraya Sägesser, aargauerzeitung.ch, 15 Nov. 2024 - auto-translation

Karl Bernet
Swisscom is planning to build a 5G antenna on Schulstrasse in Sins. The planning application was open to the public until November 12. Four objections and one collective objection have now been received. Here's what happens next.

Anyone living within 703.79 meters of the antenna is entitled to lodge an objection. Bernet requested a map from the municipality so that he could mark all properties, i.e. residents entitled to object. He recently told the Anzeiger Oberfreiamt newspaper. He himself lives in the Bachtalmühle and therefore only 150 meters away from the planned antenna.

He was out and about every day with the map and signature forms and spoke to the people concerned. “Some of these people didn't even know that a 5G antenna was being planned,” Bernet told the ‘Anzeiger Oberfreiamt’ newspaper. He noticed that there was a great willingness to sign.

Controlled exposure to the 5G radiation spectrum has resulted in changes to the brain tissue of laboratory rats, according to a team of scientists from Tomsk State University (TSU) in Russia.

Ever since the introduction of 5G cellphone infrastructure, there have been concerns about its potential health effects. The International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified the 5G radio frequency electromagnetic field (RF-EMF) as a “possible” human carcinogen, but no conclusive research has emerged either way.

“We decided to find out what the effect of non-ionizing radiation is on rodents of different ages,” Natalia Krivova, lead researcher at the TSU’s Biology and Biophysics Research Institute, said in a statement this week.

Why Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as HHS Secretary Should Follow France’s Lead
Advocating for Comprehensive Wireless Radiation Regulation

rfsafe.com, posted 15 Nov. 2024

France’s Bold Actions on Wireless Radiation

France has set a global example in protecting public health by proactively addressing the risks of wireless radiation, particularly for children. With policies ranging from banning Wi-Fi in nursery schools to mandating radiation exposure labels on cell phones, France’s comprehensive approach prioritizes health over industry interests. In contrast, the United States lags behind, hindered by outdated Federal Communications Commission (FCC) guidelines and regulatory capture.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), offers a unique opportunity to champion similar reforms in the U.S. By leveraging his advocacy for transparency and safety, Kennedy can lead a transformative effort to safeguard Americans from the health risks of wireless radiation.

COLUMN: Every Attorney General in every state v the FCC

Has the FCC ignored the possible harm wireless poses to the public ?

An OPINION By Frederick Sinclair, November 10, 2024

On September 18th 2024 a national collaboration of activist organizations, officials and citizens, who have organized as the National Call for Safe Technology, (The Call) sent a request to every Attorney General (AG) in every state of the Union, requesting their assistance in protecting residents in their states and the nation from an identified harm. A primary mission of a state AG is to investigate, prevent and remedy unlawful actions and harm inflicted on the public under their protection. The Call, in their 11 page letter, pinpoints how the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has failed to comply with a 2021 federal court remand order which underscores that the FCC has a statutory duty to regulate wireless exposure in order to protect public health. The FCC is failing in performing their duty and knowingly continues to allow exposures which are unsafe for the public and children in particular. The US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit, in its land mark decision Environmental Health trust, et al. v. FCC, ruled that the FCC “failed to provide a reasoned explanation” for its decision not to upgrade its 1996 guidelines for human exposure to radio frequency (RF) radiation. The FCC decision, not to upgrade, was ruled “arbitrary and capricious” under the federal Administrative Procedures Act and the case remanded back to the FCC to review the 11,000 pages of evidence, submitted to the docket. The evidence proved that harm is occurring below current FCC guidelines, which were set in 1996. To date, the FCC has failed to comply with the 2021 remand order. The Call, letter to State Attorney Generals, underscores the FCC statutory duty to regulate wireless exposure to protect public health and is requesting the assistance of the state prosecutors to help push for the court ordered upgrade of the outdated exposure levels which have been shown to be harming the public and the environment.

Other Countries Are Taking the Health Risks of 5G and Wireless Radiation Seriously. Why Isn’t the U.K.?
by Gillian Jamieson, dailysceptic.org, 29 October 2024

Momentum is building in the campaign to try to protect children from harmful smartphone use. Earlier this year, Miriam Cates MP led a lively debate on this subject, while the Education Committee led an inquiry entitled, ‘Screen Time – Impacts on Education and Wellbeing’. The grassroots movement, including Smartphone Free Childhood, Safe Screens and others is gathering pace. The latter organisation is in fact actively supporting MP Josh MacAlister’s Safer Phones Bill launched earlier this month, which aims to “make smartphones less addictive for children and empower families and teachers to cut down on children’s daily smartphone screen time”.

The dangers of smartphone use are clearly serious and encompass addiction, harmful content, exposure to sexual abuse and bullying, disruption of learning, behavioural changes through the habits adopted and the loss of previously normal childhood activities and social interactions. The movement hails Jonathan Haidt as the “world’s leading voice” on the damage caused to children by a phone-based childhood. Haidt identifies the damage as an “adolescent mental health crisis”.

Switzerland: 2023 monitoring report on non-ionizing radiation

2023 monitoring report on non-ionizing radiation in Switzerland
(source: www.info-emf.ch/monitoring) - auto-translation

The 2023 monitoring report presents several problems :

We persist in only taking into account the RMS values (effective average values) and not the peak values, whereas it is mainly the latter which are decisive for the impacts at the biological level.

These measured values are compared in this way to the maximum admissible immission value according to the ORNI [Ordinance on protection against non-ionizing radiation] which is much too high (up to 61V/m) because it is based solely on considerations of thermal effects, even though the BERENIS expert group [Swiss expert group on electromagnetic fields and non-ionizing radiation] mandated by the FOEN [Federal Office for the Environment] acknowledged having observed effects at values lower than the maximum emission values authorised for installations, which are 5V/m as a general rule.

Exposures that are already far too high according to the biological criteria of EUROPAEM [European Academy for Environmental Medicine] and habitat biology are declared as "low".

Measurements are only taken in schools in playgrounds and corridors, and never in classrooms, which are heavily irradiated due to all the wireless devices used.

Therefore, it is not possible to subscribe to what the FOEN says:

"The results indicate that population exposure to RNI is generally low and that health protection is assured."

Effects of Exposure to Electromagnetic Fields: Thirty years of research

Effects of Exposure to Electromagnetic Fields: Thirty years of research
saferenr.com, 24 October 2024

The preponderance of peer-reviewed research published since 1990 has found significant adverse effects from exposure to radio frequency radiation and extremely low frequency and static electromagnetic fields.

Dr. Henry Lai, Professor Emeritus at the University of Washington, Editor Emeritus of the journal, Electromagnetic Biology and Medicine, and an emeritus member of the International Commission on the Biological Effects of EMF, has compiled summaries of the research on the biological effects of exposure to radio frequency (RFR) and extremely low frequency (ELF) and static electromagnetic fields (EMF). His set of abstracts which covers the period from 1990 to October 2024 constitutes a comprehensive collection of the peer-reviewed research.

Dr. Lai reports that the preponderance of research has found that exposure to RFR or ELF EMF produces oxidative effects or free radicals, and damages DNA. Moreover the preponderance of studies that examined genetic, neurological and reproductive outcomes has found significant effects. Among hundreds of studies of RFR, 71% to 89% reported significant effects. Among hundreds of studies of ELF and static fields, 75% to 90% reported significant effects.

Does radiation from cell phones and cell towers affect human health? There has long been controversy around this question, which the federal government has tried to put to rest by issuing findings that there is no clear evidence of a health impact and by refuting earlier studies that found that biological changes associated with radiofrequency radiation. But, as recent Freedom of Information Act requests demonstrate, the controversy isn’t going away.

According to PoliScio Analytics’ competitive-intelligence database FOIAengine, which tracks FOIA requests in as close to real-time as their availability allows, 20 cell phone and cell tower radiation requests have been submitted to the Food and Drug Administration and the National Institute of Health since January of 2021.

Washington Post Shines Light on What Modern Life Is Like for People With Electromagnetic Sensitivity

The Washington Post reported on dozens of “electrosensitive” people who moved to a remote West Virginia town with no cell service rather than endure heart arrhythmia, headaches, eye problems, burning skin, brain fog, fatigue and other symptoms caused by exposure to electromagnetic fields.

by Suzanne Burdick, Ph.D., childrenshealthdefense.org, October 23, 2024

The Washington Post last week reported on dozens of “electrosensitive” people who moved to a remote West Virginia town with no cell service, drawing mainstream media attention to how wireless radiation can cause some people to experience life-altering health symptoms.

Electrosensitivity — sometimes referred to as electromagnetic sensitivity (EMS), electromagnetic hypersensitivity or microwave syndrome — is a federally recognized condition in which people experience adverse health effects due to electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure.

The Post interviewed residents of Green Bank, West Virginia, some of whom said EMF exposure previously had caused them to experience heart arrhythmia, headaches, eye problems, burning skin, brain fog, memory issues, fatigue and/or other symptoms.

So they moved to Green Bank, an EMF-free town situated in a roughly 13,000-square-mile area spanning Virginia and West Virginia. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in 1958 created the protected area — dubbed the National Radio Quiet Zone — because the area is home to the Green Bank Telescope.

The telescope, considered “the most accurate, versatile, large dish radio telescope in the world,” is powerful enough to pick up “the super-faint clouds of hydrogen that hang out between the stars and galaxies.” Because cell tower or Wi-Fi signals would drown out the subtle signals picked up by the telescope, the FCC protected the area from radiofrequency (RF) radiation-EMF interference.

Recently, the diagnose:funk doctors network went online in Germany. This is supposed to provide people with electrohypersensitivity across Germany with an overview of where and with whom they can listen to their complaints (for the first time).

While in Switzerland, people suffering from electromagnetic hypersensitivity can already seek professional advice at the medical network MedNIS since 2023, Germany is still significantly behind in this. Although the Robert Koch Institute recognized as early as January 2020 that “patients with environmentally related or caused health disorders are finding it increasingly difficult to receive environmental medical care”, it has hardly taken any steps in this regard to date.

The network of doctors set up by diagnose:funk is now set to change this. The 50 doctors involved so far

- take EHS sufferers with the cause of the illness of radio radiation seriously.
- do not regard EHS as a psychological condition.
- try to provide support as much as they can.

A new peer-reviewed study from South Korea has found a significant link between cellphone radiation and an increased risk of brain cancer, directly contradicting a recent World Health Organization (WHO)-led study that dismissed any such connection.

Published on October 10 in Environmental Health, the South Korean study analyzed 24 previous studies and concluded that heavy, long-term cell phone use increases the risk of malignant brain tumors, including meningioma and glioma, particularly on the side of the head where cellphones are held.

This study adds to growing evidence that cellphone radiation poses a potential health risk, bringing the total number of meta-analyses since 2016 linking radiation to brain cancer to seven, according to Joel Moskowitz, Ph.D., a leading expert on wireless technology and public health.

Moskowitz, who directs the Center for Family and Community Health at UC Berkeley, criticized the WHO’s recent review, stating that these seven studies clearly contradict its findings.

Calls are growing to ban smartphones in schools in England by law, as education experts and unions back an MP’s attempt to push a new law through Parliament.

Children “doomscrolling for hours a day” is causing widespread harm, according to Josh MacAlister, the Labour MP and former teacher behind the private member's bill being introduced in the House of Commons on Wednesday.

Most schools in England already have a ban or restrictions on phone use, after government guidance was introduced earlier this year.

But Mr MacAlister wants to turn the guidance into law, as well as bringing in what he calls “seatbelt legislation” for children’s social-media use.

Interpellation Sabine Glauser Krug - Electro-hypersensitive people, sacrificed in the name of progress - what solutions?
Submitted to the State Council, Canton Vaud, September 3, 2024 - unofficial translation

Submitted text

Electrohypersensitivity (EHS) is a condition that is not recognized by health insurance funds, and manifests itself as pathological reactions to non-ionizing radiation (NIR). Symptoms are very diverse, ranging from tingling, trembling or fatigue to intense headaches and muscle aches, as well as difficulty concentrating. They are heightened by the duration of exposure and the intensity of the emissions. The complexity of this condition lies in the diversity of non-tolerated frequencies (some people are more sensitive to Wi-Fi, others to the power grid or to emissions from connected devices, etc.), the delayed onset of symptoms and the fluctuating degree of sensitivity. There is no officially recognized diagnostic protocol, and electrohypersensitive people have generally been able to identify the source of their discomfort by escaping NIR either experimentally or by staying in a place protected from such radiation. Symptoms reappear on return to normal life.

Relationship between radiofrequency-electromagnetic radiation from cellular phones and brain tumor:  Meta-analyses using various proxies for RF-EMR exposure-outcome assessment
saferemr.com, 10 October 2024

On 10 October 2024, the journal Environmental Health published a systematic review and meta-analytic study on cell phone use and brain tumor risk by Moon et al. (2024). The study found significantly elevated risks for three types of brain tumors when examining tumors on the side of the head where cell phones were held and for heavy, long-term cell phone use.

Six other systematic reviews and meta-analyses of case-control studies published in peer-reviewed journals since 2016 have also also found significant associations between heavy, long-term cellphone use and brain tumor risk (Wang & Guo, 2016; Bortkiewicz et al., 2017; Carlberg & Hardell, 2017; Prasad et al., 2017, Yang et al., 2017; Choi et al., 2020).

These seven peer-reviewed meta-analytic studies contradict the conclusion of the recent WHO systematic review conducted by Karipidis et al. (2024) that there is no evidence cell phone use causes brain cancer. To learn about serious problems with the WHO systematic reviews on the health effects of radiofrequency radiation see:

Increase in colorectal cancer among young people: the role of smartphones

Increase in colorectal cancer among young people: the role of smartphones
By : Phonegate Team • 10 Oct 2024

A recent study presented by Dr. De-Kun Li at the 35th Annual Conference of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology in Santiago, Chile, in 2024, suggests a potential link between regularly carrying mobile phones in our pants pockets and the increase in colorectal cancer cases among young adults. This research is part of the broader context of the “Phonegate” scandal, revealed in 2016 in France, concerning the exceeding of electromagnetic wave exposure standards by our mobile phones.

Results of Dr. Li’s study

Dr. Li’s pilot study, designed to examine 50 cases of EOCRC* and 50 matched controls, revealed striking results:

  • People carrying a phone below the waist were four times more likely to develop tumors.
  • The link was particularly strong when the phone was carried on the same side where the tumor developed.
  • Those who carried a phone on the left side for more than 30,000 hours (about 10 years) were 12 times more likely to develop a tumor on that side of the colon.
  • The risk was significantly higher for ipsilateral (same side) carrying than for contralateral (opposite side) carrying.

Increasing incidence of central nervous system tumors in Denmark (1995-2023)

Increasing incidence of CNS-tumours in Denmark
Swedish Radiation Protection Foundation, 7 October 2024

The latest report on the number of new cancer cases in Denmark for 2023 shows that central nervous system (CNS) tumors, including brain tumors, have been increasing among both men and women.

On September 30, 2024, the Danish Cancer Registry published a new report on the number of newly diagnosed cancers during the last year 2023. The data shows that tumors of the central nervous system, CNS, including brain tumors, are increasing and are among the cancers that have increased most rapidly over the past ten years between 2014 and 2023. This applies to all tumor types combined. The statistics thus contradict those who argue that brain tumor incidence is not increasing, an argument that been used to argue that mobile phone use is not linked to an increased risk of brain tumors or cancers in general.

The Swedish Radiation Protection Foundation has examined three reports from the Danish Cancer Registry (see sources below). These reports include the number of new cases of CNS tumors per 100,000 inhabitants, age-standardized to the Danish population in 2000. We compiled the data from 1995 through 2023 in the graph below:

In the year 1962 the American scientist Allan H. Frey carried out experiments with pulsed microwaves, which produced clicking, buzz, hissing or knocking sounds in the heads of people at a distance of up to several thousands yards. In his report, he also wrote that with the change of parameters he can produce pins and needles sensation or perception of severe buffeting in the head and claimed that this energy “could possibly be used as a tool to explore nervous system coding… and for stimulating the nervous system without the damage caused by electrodes“ (see this).

In other words, Allan Frey was on the path to finding the way how to manipulate the human nervous system at distance. This was quickly understood by the U.S. Government. For the next two decades Frey, funded by the Office of Naval Research and the U.S. Army, was the most active researcher on the bioeffects of microwave radiation in the country. Frey caused rats to become docile by exposing them to radiation at an average power level of only 50 microwatts per square centimeter. He altered specific behaviors of rats at 8 microwatts per square centimeter. He altered the heart rate of live frogs at 3 microwatts per square centimeter. At only 0.6 microwatts per square centimeter, he caused isolated frogs’ hearts to stop beating by timing the microwave pulses at a precise point during the heart’s rhythm (see this and this).

Systematic reviews (=mess) on wireless radiation and health, caused by secretive EMF Project and… lobby…

betweenrockandhardplace.wordpress.com, 6 October 2024

In recent weeks there has been a lot of debate about the recently published review of studies that examined the potential effect of wireless radiation on the development of brain cancer in humans. This review is part of a series of systematic reviews commissioned by the WHO EMF Project. These reviews will be used as the scientific basis for the Environmental Health Criteria evaluation of the impact of wireless radiation on human health. It is necessary to remind everyone that these systematic reviews are not the ‘last word’ but are only a ‘raw material’ for the group of scientists who will use them for the preparation of the Environmental Health Criteria.

The way how the systematic reviews were conceived is, in my opinion, biased and should be considered questionable by any fair-minded scientist or policymaker.

The WHO EMF Project has announced a call for the preparation of systematic reviews and asked the scientific community to participate. The scientists were to organize themselves into teams of experts. Such teams were organized without (?) the participation of the WHO EMF Project and were to be independent of any vested interests – just pure science and expertise.

New Clues on Colorectal Cancer Among Young Adults

New Clues on Colorectal Cancer Among Young Adults
Higher Risks When Cell Phone Is Carried Below the Waist

microwavenews.com, 30 Sept. 2024

It’s a long-running medical mystery: Why have so many people under 50 in affluent countries been developing colorectal cancer in recent decades?

Something new is triggering a jump in what’s known as early-onset colon and rectal cancer (EOCRC). The rates have been going up for the last 20 years and no one knows why it’s happening. The usual risk factors for CRC —obesity, smoking, bad diet and lack of exercise— don’t fully explain the increase.

Five years ago, De-Kun Li, a senior epidemiologist at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, CA, offered a new possibility: carrying a cell phone below the waist. When placed in a pocket below the belt, the phone transmits RF radiation into the abdomen. Given that RF has been shown to cause cancer in animal experiments, Li thought it was a plausible risk factor. (This is what I wrote at the time.)

The idea didn’t catch on, but Li persisted and conducted a pilot study to test his hypothesis. It convinced him that he may be onto something.

It’s a small study, designed to survey 50 cases of EOCRC and 50 matched controls. He found that those who carried a phone below the waist were four times more likely to develop tumors.

EOCRC Tumors on the Left Side

Li found that the link between cell phone carrying and EOCRC is strongest when the phone was kept on the same side as where the tumor developed.

EOCRC tends to develop on the left side of the colon. Those who carried a phone on the left side for more than 30,000 hours were 12 times more likely to develop a tumor on that side of the colon. This elevated risk for what’s called ipsilateral carrying is statistically significant. (36,000 hours is equivalent to about ten years of RF exposure.)

Phonegate: Quebec Court of Appeal Confirms Class Action Against Apple and Samsung

Phonegate: Quebec Court of Appeal Confirms Class Action Against Apple and Samsung
By : Phonegate Team • 27 Sep 2024

On September 18, 2024, the Quebec Court of Appeal upheld the first instance judgment of September 22, 2022, authorizing the class action initiated in 2019 against Apple and Samsung. This action concerns allegations of failures to inform users and potential health risks related to their mobile phones. This decision poses a real financial and reputational risk for both manufacturers!

Key points of the decision

  • Rejection of Apple and Samsung‘s appeals requesting complete dismissal of the action
  • Rejection of the plaintiffs’ incidental appeal seeking to expand the scope of the action
  • Upholding of the initial judgment that had reduced the extent of the class action

France: Proposed law on electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS)

Note: This is an unofficial auto-translation of the bill.

No. 211
_____

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
CONSTITUTION OF OCTOBER 4, 1958
SEVENTEENTH LEGISLATURE

Registered with the Presidency of the National Assembly on September 17, 2024.

PROPOSED LAW

aiming to recognize electro - hypersensitivity as a disabling disease ,

(Referred to the Social Affairs Committee, in the absence of the establishment of a special committee within the time limits provided for in Articles 30 and 31 of the Rules of Procedure.)

presented by

Mrs. Sylvie BONNET, Mr. Thibault BAZIN, Mr. François-Xavier CECCOLI, Mr. Nicolas FORISSIER, Mr. Alexandre PORTIER, Mr. Jean-Pierre TAITE, Mr. Jean-Pierre VIGIER, deputies.

EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM

Ladies and Gentlemen ,

For about twenty years, people have attributed the symptoms they experience (headaches, sleep disorders, concentration problems, skin irritations and tinnitus, etc.) to exposure to electromagnetic fields. These symptoms often have a significant impact on their quality of life and their ability to function on a daily basis.

Electrosensitivity is not officially recognized as a disease in France. However, the World Health Organization (WHO) recognized in 2005 that it was " characterized by various non-specific symptoms that differ from one individual to another " and that it affects up to 2% of the French population. As a result, electrohypersensitive people often feel marginalized and misunderstood and may have difficulty finding doctors or health professionals who take them seriously and help them manage their symptoms.

However, Steiner does not believe a general ban, to be imposed by politicians, is necessary, she told the Tages-Anzeiger newspaper on Wednesday.

Most schools already have clear regulations on the use of mobile phones and schools have to make their own decisions in this regard, she says. However, personally she doesn’t see the need for phones in class or the schoolyard.

The future: Turning people into transmitters

Through the ubiquitous wireless connectivity promised by the Internet of Things (IoT) humanity and every living thing is turned into a wireless “transmitter.” As this is currently being done without full consent of the population, across the globe – it raises concerns from a health perspective, and a human rights perspective.

Governments rapidly rolling out 5G tell us that exposure guidelines backed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) ensure we are all safe within “set limits” and, that they readily support the wireless IoT for the purpose of developing a data-driven future epitomised by the smart city, a “vision” of a new society propelled by the UN’s politics of “climate change” and “sustainability”.

Health Hazards of Wireless Technologies: What do we know now? - Webinar by Dr. Joel Moscowitz, 25 September 2024 - 2 pm EST

Health Hazards of Wireless Technologies: What do we know now?
Date & Time - Sep 25, 2024 14:00 EST US - 08:00 PM in Zurich
For registration and link, see below.

Description
Wireless technologies, including cell phones, wireless internet, and Bluetooth devices, have become ubiquitous in our lives. Most adults in the US own a cell phone, and cell phone use is widespread among children and adolescents. New cell antenna sites are being deployed widely. Wireless technologies and equipment designs also change rapidly.

The preponderance of scientific evidence shows adverse biological and health effects from the radiofrequency (RF) radiation, or electromagnetic fields (EMFs), used and generated by these devices. A number of studies have considered the mechanisms of biological harm from RF radiation, and federal studies have documented increased incidence of certain tumors in laboratory animals associated with RF exposure. Epidemiological studies have found increased risk of certain tumors associated with long-term use of wireless phones.

In this webinar, Dr. Joel Moskowitz will provide a brief overview of selected recent studies on health hazards of wireless technologies. He will briefly discuss a meta-analysis of case-control studies of cell phone use and tumor risk, as well as the state of the evidence on children’s brain cancers, thyroid cancers, and other health hazards. This webinar is designed to provide a brief introduction to a subset of the recent scientific evidence, with a focus on cancer and on children’s health.

The debate over phones in schools has been ongoing since they became a significant part of everyday life in the mid-2000s. These days you would struggle to find many American teenagers who don't own some sort of device, with parents usually giving their child their own phone when they are 13 years old, according to research by Prodigy Education.

Phonegate Alert criticizes WHO study on mobile phone risks

Phonegate Alert criticizes WHO study on mobile phone risks

Phonegate Alert calls for a critical analysis of the recent WHO study on health risks of mobile phones

Paris, September 18, 2024 – The Phonegate Alert association demands a thorough and independent examination of the results of a recently published study by the World Health Organization (WHO). This study, which concludes there are no risks of brain cancer linked to mobile phone use, raises numerous questions about its methodology and impartiality.

Biased selection? Only 63 studies out of 5,379 retained for WHO analysis

The WHO study screened 5,379 scientific publications published between 1994 and 2022. However, only 63 of them were subjected to in-depth examination, raising questions about the selection criteria.

Among these studies is Mobi-Kids, whose impartiality has been questioned by a Phonegate Alert investigation, revealing serious conflicts of interest with the mobile phone industry. The use of the GRADE (Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation) approach to assess the quality of evidence also raises concerns.

GRADE: An unsuitable method for assessing long-term risks of radiofrequencies

Although widely used, the GRADE method has significant limitations in assessing long-term health risks. It favors randomized clinical trials, which are difficult to conduct for prolonged environmental exposures. This approach tends to undervalue observational studies, which are crucial for understanding the long-term effects of radiofrequencies. Moreover, GRADE often minimizes the importance of mechanistic evidence and animal studies, which are essential in this field.

Australia plans a minimum age limit for social media use

Australia plans a minimum age limit for social media use
By Reuters, CNN, 10 September 2024

Australia intends to set a minimum age limit for children to use social media, citing concerns about mental and physical health. The plan has sparked backlash from digital rights advocates who warn the measure could drive dangerous online activity underground.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said his center-left government would run an age verification trial before introducing age minimum laws for social media this year.

Albanese didn’t specify an age but said it would likely be between 14 and 16.

6G mobile phone technology could emit harmful ‘laser-like beams’, researchers warn

6G mobile phone technology could emit harmful ‘laser-like beams’, researchers warn
Story by Joe Pinkstone, msn.com / The Telegraph, 13 September 2024

6G technology will use potentially harmful “laser beams” to create the ultra-fast mobile internet, an expert has warned.

(Photo): Experts estimate that 6G could reach speeds up to ten times faster than 5G - PAVLO GONCHAR/LIGHTROCKET

The next generation of wireless internet will have to use higher energy radio waves than current 4G and 5G devices as all traditional cellular frequencies are already in use.

Scientists are now investigating using higher frequencies, which have a wavelength of more than one millimetre, to create future high-speed networks with larger bandwidth and minimal latency compared to existing technologies.

But there are concerns over how to protect users from the highly focused radio waves.

(Dr. Grigoriev, one of the world's leading experts, emailed me this message regarding the Karipidis et al. (2024) review and gave me permission to post it.)

A group of little-known scientists have claimed responsibility for all cases of cancer associated with exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields. These scientists claim that possible, probable, and proven cancer from exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields does not exist and never can exist. Thus, responsibility for misleading consumers, industry, and healthcare systems lies with several specific authors.

Decoding New WHO–ICNIRP Cancer Review
Game Over? Likely Not

microwavenews.com, September 11, 2024

An international team of researchers, many with close ties to ICNIRP, is trying to put to rest the very possibility that RF radiation can lead to brain cancer —and, by extension, any type of cancer.

On August 30, they published a detailed systematic review of RF and cell phone epidemiological studies, which concludes that there is little evidence to justify continued concern over a possible cancer link.

The review, commissioned by the World Health Organization‘s (WHO) EMF Project, appears in the journal Environment International.

A few days later, Ken Karipidis, the lead author, posted a short summary to serve as a press release for the journal manuscript, which takes up 52 typeset pages of the journal.
