Cyberattacks Make Smart Grids Look Pretty Dumb

Cyberattacks Make Smart Grids Look Pretty Dumb
By David Fickling, BloombergOpinion Analysis / washingtonpost.com, 17 Jube 2019

Imagine if your thermostat led to a region-wide power blackout.

It’s a scenario that’s looking increasingly plausible. Argentina isn’t ruling out a cyberattack as the possible cause for the mass outage that affected millions of people in five South American countries over the weekend. Even if that incident turns out to have a more innocent explanation, the U.S. government is stepping up digital incursions into Russia’s power grid, the New York Times reported Saturday, citing unnamed officials.

The growing threat from hacking is somewhat inevitable given the way our power systems are changing. Electricity networks are traditionally highly centralized, with limited ability to monitor and control supply and demand in real time, leaving grid operators dependent on forecasting unusual consumption spikes to prevent the system from falling over.

BioInitiative Report - 2019 Updated Research Summaries

BioInitiative 2012  - Updated Research Summaries
May 1st, 2019

Many new scientific studies have been published since the 2017 update. As a result, several of the Research Summaries by Dr. Lai are updated in 2019. They are the abstract collections for neurological effects of ELF-EMF and RFR; and for free radical (oxidative damage) effects from ELF-EMF, static fields and RFR. Corresponding graphics on “Effect vs No Effect” are also brought current for these new 2019 abstract collections.

2019 Updated Research Summaries (May, 2019)

These new and updated Research Summaries include downloadable files on Free Radicals (oxidative damage) from ELF-EMF, static field and RFR exposures; and updated neurological effects of ELF-EMF and RFR. These are invaluable resources that can are searchable by key words. They identify the relevant peer-reviewed, published literature that reports on biological effects of non-ionizing radiation (ELF-EMF and RFR, and static field studies).

[Press release] Phonegate Scandal: A Criminal Complaint against HMD GLOBAL OY (NOKIA)

[Press release] Phonegate scandal: a criminal complaint against HMD GLOBAL OY (NOKIA)
Phonegate Team,  phonegatealert.org, 12 June 2019

After XIAOMI, a new complaint filed against HMD GLOBAL OY (NOKIA) by the association PHONEGATE ALERT and a new collective action launched

While a first complaint was filed on April 15, 2019 against the Chinese mobile phone manufacturer XIAOMI, a second complaint* is now being filed against the manufacturer HMD GLOBAL OY. Since the end of 2016, the Finnish company has been marketing NOKIA mobile phones, having been granted a license to use its brand.

We explain the reasons for this complaint and its objectives.

A new violation of the SAR regulations indicated by ANFR

GBM Rising in Denmark, Much as in England - True Increases or Artifacts?

GBM Rising in Denmark, Much as in England
True Increases or Artifacts?

GBM is going up in Denmark too. The steady rise is very similar to what has been seen in England.

New government data, released in May by a member of the Danish Parliament, show a near doubling of this fatal brain tumor, glioblastoma multiforme, since the year 2000. You can see the trend by following the orange line in the histogram below.

Cell Phone Users are also Deceived

Danger of Waves
Letter to the Editor, Tribune de Genève, 12 June 2019
(inspired by the opinion of Olivier Bot, Deputy Editor-in-Chief): "WHO and the health of multinationals".)

Many mobile phone manufacturers mislead consumers by testing the amount of energy carried by RF waves absorbed by the user of these devices at a distance from the body, not the way people use them - against the head or body or keeping them in a pocket. The French National Frequencies Agency has found that many mobile phones tested against the body exceed the threshold for exposure to waves set by Europe and Switzerland. In this context, the international NGO, Phonegate Alert Association, filed a criminal complaint in France against the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi for deception, fraudulent commercial practices and endangering the lives of others.

International Phonegate scandal: All overexposed, all deceived, all endangered by our mobile phones

International Phonegate scandal: All overexposed, all deceived, all endangered by our mobile phones
Phonegate Teamphonegatealert.org, 10 June 2019

The medical conference held on Saturday 8 June 2019 provided the first opportunity to discuss in England about the Phonegate case and its industrial and health consequences. We would like to warmly thank Dr. Erica Mallery Blythe, President of PHIRE, for her invitation and support that made this event possible in the UK. It was also an opportunity for fruitful exchanges with Professors Dominique Belpomme (France) and Olle Johansson (Sweden) present to discuss the various aspects related to the health of people suffering from electrohypersensitivity (EHS).

All the interventions were filmed and will soon be available on our website and social networks. In the meantime you will find the presentation in English made by Dr Marc Arazi, President of Alerte Phonegate. Thank you in advance for spreading it widely around you.

Switzerland: Interpellation 19.3120 Submitted by Alice Glauser-Zufferey: "Non-ionizing Radiation, Health and Responsibility"

UPDATE with Opinion of Federal Council of 29.05.19
(unofficial translation)

Ad 1

The Swiss Insurance Association (SIA) classifies non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation, and therefore mobile telephony radiation, as an emerging risk (currently twelve in number). These are new types of risks that may have an impact in the future. Unlike traditional risks, they are difficult to identify and therefore difficult to assess financially. A common feature of emerging risks is that the causality between risk and damage cannot (yet) be proven. Since the generally accepted criteria for providing insurance against hazards cannot be applied to emerging risks without further action, liability insurers are faced with the fundamental question of whether such risks can actually be covered by insurance. In the absence of this causality and because it is almost impossible to financially assess possible risks, insurers are reluctant to cover the risks for the population that could result from the antennas.

Switzerland: 19.3089 INTERPELLATION Submitted by Thomas Hardegger : Mobile Telephony. 5G and Its Health Risks

UPDATE with Opinion of Federal Council of 15 May 2019:
(unofficial translation in English)

The effect of non-ionizing radiation (NIR) on humans depends on its intensity and frequency. The current deployment of 5G is in the frequency ranges already used today for mobile telephony and wireless networks (WIFI).

1./2. In the long term, a higher frequency range should also be used in 5G. However, as it is not yet widely used, it has not been the subject of any observational studies of its impact on the population. Internationally, a review article published in 2018 lists some 80 animal and cellular studies on frequencies between 30 and 65 gigahertz. In Switzerland, no research on this frequency range has been conducted to date.

Switzerland: 19.3211 INTERPELLATION Submitted by Frédéric Borloz: Public spaces: the creation of protected areas from electromagnetic fields could facilitate access by hypersensitive people

19.3211 INTERPELLATION : Public spaces: the creation of protected areas from electromagnetic fields could facilitate access by hypersensitive people

UPDATE: Federal Council Opinion of 29 May 2019:
(unofficial translation)

The author of the interpellation assumes that the radiation of mobile telephony, as it is now present in the environment and legally permissible, is clearly harmful to human beings. In its report of 25 February 2015 on mobile telephony networks adapted to future requirements, the Federal Council stated that warming of the body's tissues is the only scientifically proven harmful effect on humans due to high frequency radiation. However, this effect is excluded if the emission limit values defined in the Ordinance on Protection against Non-Ionising Radiation (ORNI; SR 814.710) are complied with. Research has led to more or less well-documented observations showing that mobile phone radiation can have other biological effects that cannot be attributed to this warming. Scientific studies are carried out to determine whether they are dangerous to health. Based on the findings of surveys on mobile phone use, the World Health Organization has classified high frequency radiation as potentially carcinogenic to humans. At the same time, it found that research on the population's exposure to fixed transmitter stations, which have much lower radiation levels, does not reveal an increased risk of cancer. However, the organization recognizes that there is no relevant long-term study.
