Radiofrequencies and health: research in a fast-moving environment

ANSES & IARC scientific conference - Paris, 23 November 2022

Applications of radiofrequency communication technologies have developed considerably over the last 20 years and now include the mobile web, contactless authentication, connected objects, and more. In a context where uses of these technologies, the conditions of exposure and the frequencies used are rapidly changing, and given the disorders and symptoms that have been attributed to them, the research community continues to be highly active in this area, regularly producing new knowledge on the human health effects of radio waves.

Wireless Technology Not Adequately Assessed for Hazards to Human Health and Environment

Wireless Technology Not Adequately Assessed for Hazards to Human Health and Environment
New peer-reviewed paper presents scientific case for revision of limits

Open access paper: https://bit.ly/ICBE-EMFpaper1

TUCSON, AZ – October 18, 2022 – The International Commission on the Biological Effects of Electromagnetic Fields (ICBE-EMF) is challenging the safety of current wireless exposure limits to radiofrequency radiation (RFR) and is calling for an independent evaluation.

Published today in the journal Environmental Health, “Scientific evidence invalidates health assumptions underlying the FCC and ICNIRP exposure limit determinations for radiofrequency radiation: implications for 5G,” demonstrates how the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the International Commission on Nonionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) have ignored or inappropriately dismissed hundreds of scientific studies documenting adverse health effects at exposures below the threshold dose claimed by these agencies, which was used to establish human exposure limits. The authors argue that the threshold, based on science from the 1980s – before cell phones were ubiquitous -- is wrong, and these exposure limits based on this threshold do not adequately protect workers, children, people with electromagnetic hypersensitivity, and the public from exposure to the nonionizing radiation from wireless data transmission.

Switzerland: 5G disaster for Swisscom and Co. "Complaints are going to rain down!"

5G disaster for Swisscom and Co.
"Complaints are going to rain down!"

by Danny Schlumpf, blick.ch, 6 October 2022 - translation

3000 objections to new 5G antennas have already been made in Switzerland. Now it's getting even worse for Swisscom and Co. The new network is on the brink of failure.

Switzerland was one of the first countries in the world to auction off frequencies for 5G at the beginning of 2019. Swisscom, Sunrise and Salt jumped at the chance - even though they were aware that the legal radiation limits for the new mobile technology were too low. They assumed that the problem could be solved later - and were surprised by a massive wave of protest.

The anger of 5G opponents is ignited by the so-called adaptive antennas. These enable the new technology to be used, transmit in a targeted manner and therefore - as Swisscom and Co. put it - generate less electromagnetic radiation overall than many feared.

Cellular Podcast, by Kevin Kunze (Director/Editor of 'Mobilize'), and Ellie Marks (California Brain Tumor Association)

Cellular Podcast, by Kevin Kunze (Director/Editor of 'Mobilize'), and Ellie Marks (California Brain Tumor Association)
Kevin Kunze (16 October 2022)

The Cellular Podcast investigates the long-term health effects of cell phone radiation with interviews from leading health experts, industry insiders, and brain tumor victims. 4 episodes now available - can be downloaded.

Episode 4 - Alicia Mitchel Murray
On today’s episode we’re interviewing Alicia Mitchel Murray, the daughter of Michael Murray who set in motion the now famous Murray vs Motorola lawsuit, which is currently being heard in the DC Superior Court.

Michael Murray started working for Motorola as a communication technician at age 20 testing numerous cell phones every day. Murray was a heavy, daily cell phone user until severe headaches, vision problems and other symptoms caused him to consult a doctor.

He was diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 30. The tumor was behind the ear he used to test phones everyday.

Leszczynski Reviews Public Health Policies on Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity

Leszczynski reviews public health policies on EHS
Between a Rock and a Hard Place, 13 October 2022

Dariusz Leszczynski‘s review article “The lack of international and national health policies to protect persons with self-declared electromagnetic hypersensitivity” has been just accepted for publication in the ‘Reviews on Environmental Health‘. The article reviews the current, very limited, evidence of EHS health policies. The review has taken into consideration opinions on EHS and on EHS public health policies published by: WHO, ICNIRP, IEEE-ICES, EUROPAEM, ICEMS, BioInitiative, GSMA, MWF, European Union, Nordic Countries, and governments of 17 selected countries: , Australia, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, India, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, Switzerland, UK, and USA.

As far as the author of the review is aware, it is the first, so comprehensive collection of information about EHS health policies of different organizations and countries. Hence, it is hoped and expected to bring attention to the EHS health policy issue.

Here is the abstract of the article and a few selected quotes:

The Death of Rich Farver - Cell Tower Connection

Poignant testimony of a mother who lost her son, Rich, to glioblastoma, a highly malignant form of brain cancer, from exposure to wireless radiation from a cell tower at San Diego State University. The interview includes discussion about the harms of use of cell phones. Please share widely.

The Death of Rich Farver — Cell Tower Connection
Children's Health Defense, CHD.TV, 20 Sept. 2022

Guest Virginia Farver’s son, Rich, was exposed to wireless radiation from a cell tower at San Diego State University. He began to notice symptoms — headaches, unrelenting fatigue and memory issues. Soon after his diagnosis of brain cancer, Rich passed away. Under the guise of equity and inclusion, surveillance technology in the form of antennas and cell towers, has been built on college campuses. When it comes to cancer, medical institutions have financial incentives to look for a cure, but Virginia says that people need to focus on investigating the cause of these cancer clusters so that we can prevent it.

How Social Media is Literally Making Teens Mentally Ill

Extracts from a major article by Dr. Nicholas Kardaras, bestselling author of “Glow Kids”. We begin with ways to immunize oneself (or one’s child) from the viral toxic effects of social media, then continue with a description of the extent of this plague.

Six Tips for Social Media Immunization

The best way to immunize oneself (or one’s child) from the viral toxic effects of social media have to do with focusing less on the toxin (social media) and more on strengthening one’s psychological immune system. So while it’s always a good idea to both limit and delay a person’s use of social media, it’s critically important to become a modern day Philosopher-Warrior in order to develop the grit and resilience of a Spartan and the critical thinking, curiosity and intellect of an ancient philosopher by adhering to the following tips:

1. BUILD GRIT AND RESILIENCE. According to psychologist Angela Duckworth (the author of “Grit”), we develop grit by leaning in to experiences, and thus allowing ourselves to make mistakes that we can learn from — and we NEVER quit.

Europe Braces for Mobile Network Blackouts

Exclusive: Europe braces for mobile network blackouts
By Mathieu Rosemain, Supantha Mukherjee and Elvira Pollina, reuters.com, 29 Sep 2022

PARIS/STOCKHOLM/MILAN, Sept 29 (Reuters) - Once unthinkable, mobile phones could go dark around Europe this winter if power cuts or energy rationing knocks out parts of the mobile networks across the region.

Russia's decision to halt gas supplies via Europe's key supply route in the wake of the Ukraine conflict has increased the chances of power shortages. In France, the situation is made worse by several nuclear power plants shutting down for maintenance.
