On December 7, 2020, a health study and an environmental study will be discussed in the European Parliament, with scientists from all over the world, to discuss possible health effects. A Webinar in French will be open to the public upon inscription, Monday 7 December from 10h to 12h on line.

AGENDA
Nearly 70 mayors from the Drôme region and France are opposed to the 5G technology soon to be rolled out nationwide. At issue: "the health risks for living organisms have not been evaluated". Michèle Rivasi, MEP, says she is ready to go to the European Court of Justice.
More than 70 elected officials, including the mayors of major cities such as Grenoble, Marseille, Tours and Bordeaux, as well as Dieulefit, Montjoux and La Roche-Saint-Secret in the Drôme, are calling for a moratorium on the deployment of 5G technology in France.
Michèle Rivasi: "There is a lack of democratic debate".
In a videoconference organized Wednesday evening, December 2 from the European Parliament, Michèle Rivasi, MEP (EELV), spoke loud and clear. "There is a lack of democratic debate. 5G has not been discussed in the Parliament, it is an industrial project that brings us towards cyber-surveillance. This poses a problem for society. It is over-consumption. We want a democratic debate, and we want to wait for the conclusions of public health organizations."
According to the mayors who oppose 5G, several central issues remain unresolved:
It's fraught with conflicts of interest."
Michèle Rivasi regrets the lack of impact studies from the European Commission. "There has indeed been a study by the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP). But it's full of conflicts of interest, with industrialists and also the U.S. military," she said. "They only take into account the thermal effects, which is insufficient."
Electro-smog
According to Patrice Goyaud, physics engineer and administrator of the Robin des toits association, 5G represents an exposure twice the current legal limits, with a frequency between 1 and 6 Giga Hertz, thus risking to create an "electro-smog", which will eventually replace ADSL. He points out that 6G is already being tested in China, where it is not the objects that are traceable, but the human himself who would be "permanently connected". In Switzerland, where 5G is already developed, "the radiation is 4 times higher than 4G".
One antenna can cover one million objects per square kilometer. "And it is estimated that there will be 50 to 100 billion connected objects in the world by 2030". The beam is steerable because the antenna follows the connected object as it moves.
5G should be installed from 2023 in France, with different bandwidths according to the spaces concerned:
"We must mobilize."
Michèle Rivasi recalls that the World Health Organization has classified electromagnetic radiation as a possible carcinogen (a correlation between intensive cell phone use and the risk of developing a brain tumor has been established by the international Interphone study). "More and more scientists are concerned about health effects," she says: scientific studies on insects have shown a risk of burning on the skin, and effects on the cornea. Finally, a British study would show that tree leaves could stop "90% of 5G waves. Will it be necessary to cut down all the trees planted in cities" she asks with a touch of irony.
"We'll go all the way to the European Court of Justice."
"We must not lose hope," says the MEP. "We have to mobilize. The power is in the hands of the citizens. We must not make the population dependent on these communications that allow us to better control people. We will go to the European Court of Justice because 5G is being imposed on us without respecting EU legislation".

According to the mayors who oppose 5G, several central issues remain unresolved:
- The increase in electromagnetic pollution and the health risks to living organisms that have not yet been evaluated.
- The environmental impact of the multiplication of digital flows and additional energy requirements in a period when there is an incentive to save energy
- The significant increase in the need for rare raw materials for the manufacture of new antennas and new communicating objects
- The reinforcement of desocialization linked to mobile screens and the risk of dehumanization of society
It's fraught with conflicts of interest."

5G should be installed from 2023 in France, with different bandwidths according to the spaces concerned:
- 700 Mega Hertz in rural areas, "a very penetrating bandwidth. It would be a low-speed 5G".
- 3.5 Giga Hertz for cities
- 26 Giga Hertz for Space and Satellites
