France: SAR Display: Alert Raised by the DGCCRF!

SAR display: alert raised by the DGCCRF!
By : Phonegate Team • 26 Nov 2022

In a statement, dated November 23, 2022, the French General Directorate for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Prevention (DGCCRF) revealed major breaches by distributors of mobile phones and connected devices (the list has not been made public).

Indeed, these companies are required to display on their products, since July 2020, information about the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) values. This being mandatory on every device emitting electromagnetic waves – not just cell phones, as was the case before.

61% of checked SAR displays, considered as abnormal

However, checks carried out in 2021 by the DGCCRF revealed the absence of display in many cases. Worse, investigators discovered non-compliant displays, some showing a value of zero, which is technically unfeasible.

Thus, 270 institutions out of the 470 visited were considered abnormal, like 61% of the devices checked. The investigation ultimately resulted in 212 warnings, 53 summonses and 8 fines.

For Dr Marc Arazi, president of “Phonegate Alert” NGO :

“DGCCRF work is essential, insofar as it will force distributors to comply with the law. However, in light of such alarming results, we call on the government to opt for stricter regulations, in order to protect the health of all mobile phone users, both at national and European level.”

Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Fields May Affect Heart Health, New EWG Analysis Finds

Radiofrequency electromagnetic fields may affect heart health, new EWG analysis finds
By Uloma Uche, Ph.D (EWG),  Tasha Stoiber, Ph.D. (EWG), Olga Naidenko, Ph.D. (EWG), Environmental Working Group, 22 Nov. 2022

Electromagnetic radiation in the radiofrequency range emitted by cell phones, tablets and other wireless communication devices is absorbed by the human body and may affect heart health, according to a new EWG analysis.

Human and animal research studies show that the cardiovascular system is sensitive to radiofrequency radiation. The developing organism, from the fetal stage through early life, is especially vulnerable to these exposures and their potential harms.

France: List of cell phones withdrawn or updated for deception and endangering users (November 2022)

List of cell phones withdrawn or updated for deception and endangering users
By : Phonegate Team • 21 Nov 2022

These are now 37 different models of cell phones, identified as dangerous for the health of users, that have been either withdrawn from the French market or have had their Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) updated by software. Latest ones: the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and the Wiko Y82.

Samsung has been given a 7,500 euros penalty

In its press release published on the 18th of November, the French National Agency of Frequencies (ANFR) revealed that it detected too important SAR values on two other cell phones. First of them, the Galaxy Z Flip from Samsung, has initially been measured with a trunk SAR of 2.05 W/kg, the regulatory level being fixed at 2 W/kg. It even raised to 3.024 W/kg after the first software update made by the company. A second one has thus been necessary to make the cell phone compliant, the trunk SAR being brought back to 1.04 W/kg. By the way, Samsung has been penalized with a 7,500 euros fine.

U.S. Aviation Sector Calls for 5G Wireless Deadline Extension

U.S. aviation sector calls for 5G wireless deadline extension
By David Shepardson, reuters.com, 15 Nov. 2022

WASHINGTON, Nov 15 (Reuters) - Air carriers will be unable to fully meet deadlines to retrofit planes to avoid interference from latest generation 5G C-Band wireless service, the aviation industry said Tuesday, urging the White House to help avert a standoff.

Concerns that 5G services could interfere with airplanes' altimeters, which give data on a plane's height above the ground and are crucial for bad-weather landing, led to disruptions at some U.S. airports earlier this year.

A letter signed by Airlines for America, Boeing (BA.N) Airbus (AIR.PA), Embraer (EMBR3.SA), aviation unions and others backed the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) request to mandate an extension of mitigation by wireless carriers as airlines retrofit radio altimeters.

Canada: Apple and Samsung Phones in the Dock

CANADA: Apple and Samsung phones in the dock
by Karim Benessaieh, La Presse, 11 November 2022 (auto-translation)

Seven Quebecers who accuse Apple and Samsung phones of emitting "toxic" waves, and their manufacturers of cheating during certification tests, partially won their case on September 22: the Superior Court authorized their class action.

THOMAS PETER PHOTO, REUTERS ARCHIVES
Seven Quebec plaintiffs filed a class-action lawsuit in March 2019 claiming that Apple and Samsung phones emit more radiation than the accepted North American standard of 1.6 watts per kilogram.

Judge Christian Immer, however, significantly reduced their claims. He dismissed numerous accusations, including some he called "patently unfounded, untenable and frivolous," to bring the case down to a few central issues. Does cell phone radiation pose a risk when these devices are held very close to the body? Are manufacturers sufficiently informing their customers about these risks? Should they then pay punitive damages?

United States: Microwave Injured Veterans Network

Microwave Injured Veterans Network
https://www.microwavedvets.com/news

Microwave Injured Veterans Network (MIVN) focuses on helping veterans to better communicate their injury to primary care providers. According to Pew research there are around 20 million veterans living in the U.S. Those veterans that are sensitive to microwave radiation due to their injury unfortunately have to be aware of the amount of microwave radiation around and inside of their residence and workspaces. While most people never think about these devices as harmful microwave injured veterans have to consider removing WiFi from their homes and not living inside of the radiation lobule of a cellular tower or small cell facility. We believe that these veterans have a right to accommodation without shame or ridicule.

Many Italian media have published the news, delving more deeply into the recent Turin judgement.

He fell ill with cancer due to the use of his cell phone: Inail sentenced to pay an annuity to the worker

by Sarah Martinenghi, torino.repubblica.it/, 5 Nov. 2022 - auto-translation

For 13 years he used the phone on average 2.5 hours a day for work purposes. When the former technician discovered he was suffering from a benign ear tumor, he asked INAIL to be granted an occupational disease pension. The Turin Court of Appeal proved him right

He used his cell phone for at least two and a half hours every day for 13 years. And now the INAIL has also been sentenced on appeal to grant him a professional disability pension for falling ill with acoustic neuroma, a benign tumor affecting a nerve in the ear.

Six Italian Courts Have Ruled that Cell Phones Cause Brain Tumors

We are re-posting this article, in view of the latest Italian court ruling concerning compensation of a victim of an intracranial tumor of the acoustic neuroma linked to the use of cell phones.

Six Italian Courts Have Ruled that Cell Phones Cause Brain Tumors

By Martine Vriens and Dafna Tachover, published by hildrenshealthdefense.org, 21 January 2020
[Note: This article has been adapted and updated, with permission, from an earlier article published on May 29, 2019 by We Are the Evidence.]

On January 13, 2020, Turin’s Court of Appeals confirmed a 2017 decision determining that a former Telecom Italia worker’s acoustic neuroma (a benign tumor in the ear) was caused by his mobile phone use. This is the sixth time that an Italian court has affirmed a causal link between cell phone use and brain tumors, including decisions by the High Court of Italy.

The Appellate court reached its decision after a review of the evidence and after receiving the opinion of two court-appointed experts. The experts referred the court to studies indicating that individuals who speak on their phones for an average of 30 minutes a day for at least 10 years increase their risk of developing head tumors. After considering this evidence, the Appellate court in Turin stated, “There are solid elements to affirm a causal role between the exposure of the person to radiofrequencies from mobile phones and the disease that arose.”

Cellular and Cancer: The Industry Loses a Worried Ally

Cellular and cancer: the industry loses a worried ally
by André Fauteux, La Maison du 21e Siècle, November 3, 2022 (Google translation)

American researcher
emeritus James C. Lin
One of the most renowned scientists on the biological effects of radio frequency (RF) radiation used by cellular technologies, Dr. James C. Lin, says that the latest studies "give consistent indications that exposure to RF is probably carcinogenic to humans”.

A pioneer in electromedicine and professor emeritus of electrical engineering and biophysics at the University of Chicago, Dr. Lin is the past president of the prestigious Bioelectromagnetics Society, present in 40 countries. He is also a distinguished former member of the two organizations that created RF exposure limits, the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). Like several experts, today he disputes the validity of these limits based on the assumption that only the heating of tissues by RF would be dangerous.

Dissident Scientists Seek Tighter Health Limits
Will They Succeed Where Others Failed?
microwavenews.com, 1st Nov. 2022

An international group of research scientists has come together to challenge ICNIRP, the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection.

The new panel wants a complete revision of ICNIRP’s guidelines for exposures to radiofrequency (RF) radiation. The researchers are demanding the adoption of more scientifically rigorous standards, which better protect public health and the environment.

“We are calling for an independent evaluation of the limits,” Joel Moskowitz of Berkeley Public Health, an arm of the University of California, told Microwave News. This needs to be done, he said, because ICNIRP’s guidelines are “based on smoke and mirrors.”

Carcinogenesis from Chronic Exposure to Radio-Frequency Radiation: New Paper by Dr. James C. Lin

Carcinogenesis from chronic exposure to radio-frequency radiation
Dr. James C. Lin, Front. Public Health, Sec. Radiation and Health. 31 October 2022.
doi: 10.3389/fpubh.2022.1042478

Open access paper: https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpubh.2022.1042478/full

Dr. James C. Lin, one of the world's most renowned scientists who has studied the effects of radio frequency (RF) radiation, and a distinguished former member of the two organizations that created the RF exposure limits, the International Commission on Nonionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), challenges the validity of these safety limits.

He concludes in his latest peer-reviewed paper:

"The simple and effective public health notion of 'An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure' may conjure up old fashioned. It may arouse intense reactions, with enormous defiance especially from individuals who may be beneficiary of modern promotions. The cellphone and allied wireless communication technologies have shown their direct benefit to people in modern society. However, as for their impact on the radiation health and safety of humans who are subjected unnecessarily to various levels of RF exposure over prolonged durations or even over their lifetime, the jury is still out. Furthermore, there are consistent indications from epidemiological studies and animal investigations that RF exposure is, at least, probably carcinogenic to humans. The principle of ALARA—as low as reasonably achievable—ought to be adopted as a strategy for RF health and safety protection."
