France : A Proposed Law Wants to Fight against the Overexposure of Children to Screens

Children's screen time: should we ban the use of smartphones by teachers?
by Aurore Gayte, numerama.com, 25 January 2023 - translation

A bill wants to fight against the overexposure of children to screens. It contains 6 articles, and a bold suggestion: restrict the use of screens by supervisory staff in primary and nursery schools.

Limit excessive exposure of children to screens: this is the aim of a bill , tabled by the Renaissance parliamentary group (formerly En Marche). The text, which was co-signed by all the deputies of the group, must be examined by the Assembly “ in the spring ”, according to the cabinet of the deputy Caroline Janvier, who presented the bill.

In a press release sent on January 25, 2023, the MP for Loiret explains that she wants to fight against what she calls the " new evil of the century ", without having a " technophobic approach ". The 6 articles of the proposed law generally provide for better awareness of the risks incurred by children. But one article in particular catches the eye: it proposes to regulate the use of teachers' telephones, and to have the measures financed by... an increase in the price of tobacco.

Teens Carry a Threat to Mental Health in their Pockets

More on the Seattle Public School district's lawsuit against Big Tech.

Teens carry a threat to mental health in their pockets
By Naomi Ishisaka, Seattle Times columnist, Seattle Times, 23 Jan. 2023, update 24 Jan. 2023

Every generation has angst over what a particular cultural shift is doing to the minds of our youth.

When I was a kid in the mid-’80s, it was Tipper Gore and the Parents’ Music Resource Center coming after rock and rap for what they considered explicit and obscene lyrics, leading to the first “Parental Advisory” label going on a 2 Live Crew album.

(Photo): Seattle Public Schools filed a suit in U.S. District Court in Seattle suing tech giants behind TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and Snapchat, asserting the companies are substantially contributing to a youth mental health crisis. (Michele Ursi / TNS)

Decades later, the focus now is on social media and its effects on the mental health of young people.

Given the frequent overreach and cyclical nature of these moral panics, it would be easy to roll your eyes at today’s concerns over social media.

United States: Fast Track to New York 5G Microwaved City

"We must realize that countries such as Italy, India, Russia, China, and many more have far stricter regulations on wireless transmission levels. For institutions to be in compliance with the American Disabilities Act, people disabled due to electromagnetic sensitivity must be accommodated. Insurance companies refuse to cover harms resulting from electromagnetic radiation."

Fast Track to New York 5G Microwaved City

We’ve been living in a wireless world since the earliest cell phone and home WiFi networks, roughly 30 years. Now we’re up to the Fifth Generation of wireless transmission technology commonly known as 5G. For decades more there have been hundreds of scientists warning of adverse impacts of electromagnetic frequencies on the health of humans, animals, and plant life. There have been widespread adverse impacts from proximity to even 4G cell phone towers resulting in cancers and deaths. The Ramazzini Institute in Italy based its study which began in 2005 on lower levels of radio frequency radiation than what wireless antennas are emitting. Just as alarming is that the telecoms and utilities installing digital meters claim they are in compliance with FCC safety guidelines set back in 1996, far before the proliferation of wireless antennas and devices we are now surrounded by. Even before 5G, a consortium of 240 scientists made an appeal to the United Nations for a global moratorium.

Microwave Expert Barrie Trower - 9 Interviews with Morten Julius

Readers of this blog may be interested to know that in 2012, we posted the resumés of nine interviews with microwave radiation expert Barrie Trower. In 2011, Danish documentary filmmaker and journalist Morten Julius conducted an interview with Barrie Trower about microwave dangers which could be seen on Vimeo (143 mn) and ten 12-minute videos on YouTube. The Vimeo video has disappeared and we are not sure whether we could find the ones on YouTube. The interviews are extremely interesting and much of what he says is relevant today, in 2023.

Here is an excerpt from one of the videos: You will find the list of interviews at the end of this excerpt

The mobile industry is the greatest polluter on the planet today

What about microwaves and CO2 emissions? Trower knows of three published papers which say that the biggest polluter on the planet is the mobile industry. The hundreds of thousands of transmitters all over the world require power. “All the mobile phones need power, all the Wi-Fi sets, all the gadgets and all this power has to be generated. The more the industry puts out Wi-Fi, not only are they contributing to warming the atmosphere but they are also increasing the carbon footprint. The mobile industry is the greatest polluter on the planet today… Yet, you hear nothing anywhere in the world against the mobile industry in terms of pollution.

Two brave women decided to challenge the UK government with regards to the risks of 5G

They consider that the UK Government has failed to inform the public about the risks of RFR (Radio Frequency Radiation) and 5G. Their action is  relevant to other countries as well.

They were granted permission for the Case to be heard on Appeal.

They have been working for three long years to get this evidence in front of a judge who will listen impartially.

Switzerland: Thousands of antennas: It looks like 5G but is it 5G?

Thousands of antennas - It looks like 5G but is it 5G?
The entire population has access to 5G, yet thousands of additional antennas are pending. Here's why.
by Julien Wicky, Tribune de Genève, 21 January 2023 - translation

(Photo): Switzerland is already almost entirely covered by the 5G network, but for it to be equipped with all its features, 7,500 antennas are still needed. KEYSTONE

It is a figure that is paradoxical. On the website of the Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM), we can read that since the end of 2021, 100% of the Swiss population has been covered by the fifth generation mobile network, the famous 5G. On their sites, the three operators in the country do not say the opposite and claim the importance of their coverage. Yet in 2022, an additional 1,500 antennas were installed, bringing the total to 8,474 5G installations as of January 3 this year, according to data we requested from OFCOM. And it's not over. But if everyone is already covered, why continue to install new infrastructures, especially since these are very often opposed by groups of opponents?

Washington State: Seattle Public School System Files Lawsuit Against Big Tech

SEATTLE SAYS ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
I say good for them

by Marianne Williamson, "Transform", 14 January 2023

The Seattle Public School system has filed a lawsuit against Big Tech, claiming social media platforms “intentionally contributed to the youth mental health crisis." From a rise in teen depression, sleep deprivation, and even suicide, we are finally willing to admit publicly what so many of us have known all along: that the ubiquity of social media is having a devastating effect on our young.

Much of Seattle’s legal case is based on the work of San Diego State University psychology professor Jean Twenge, author of "iGen." Twenge claims the evidence now suggests it's not just correlation, but causation, that connects the overuse of social media platforms to high rates of teen anxiety.

First Study so Far: 5G Causes the Microwave Syndrome

This study was first published in the Swedish medical magazine Medicinsk Access no. 1/2022 and was carried out by the oncologist and researcher Lennart Hardell from the Research Foundation for Environment & Cancer and Mona Nilsson from the Radiation Protection Foundation.  Our post of the English auto-translation of the study has since had nearly 11,000 views.  On 10 January 2023, the study  "
The Microwave Syndrome after Installation of 5G Emphasizes the Need for Protection from Radiofrequency Radiation" was published as a case report by Gavin Publishers.

On 18 January 2023, Children's Health Defense (CHD) published an article including mention of the study, quoting one of its authors, Mona Nilsson as saying, “The telecom companies tried to censor the article” in spring 2022 after the study initially appeared in a Swedish medical magazine.

“A representative of the Ericsson company — the world leading 5G infrastructure provider — and the umbrella organization for 1,200 tech companies, all the major telecom companies in Sweden, wrote to the editor of the Swedish magazine and asked him to withdraw the article,” she explained.

“This is the first case report of the microwave syndrome caused by 5G,” Hardell told The Defender (CHD), adding that “historically, many risk factors for human health have first been identified by clinical observations.”

According to Nilsson, the study — which examined the change in physical symptoms experienced by a 63-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman when a 5G cellular tower was installed on the top of their apartment building — “confirms the concerns raised for several years by hundreds of scientists and physicians about the dangers of the 5G rollout.”

As we do not wish to confuse readers, we have taken down the auto-translation of the study.

Four New Studies Add to Evidence of Wireless Technology-Related Electromagnetic Radiation in Humans

4 Studies Add to Evidence of Wireless Technology-Related Electromagnetic Radiation in Humans

Four new studies shed light on human exposure to electromagnetic radiation from wireless technologies, but the authors of one study alleged industry tried to censor their research, and in another case, critics accused researchers of having conflicts of interest with the telecom industry.

By Suzanne Burdick, Ph.D., childrenshealthdefense.org, 18 January 2023

New studies from Sweden, China, Australia and the U.K. shed light on human exposure to electromagnetic radiation from wireless technologies, but the authors of one study alleged industry tried to censor their research, and in another case, critics accused researchers of having conflicts of interest with the telecom industry.

In the first example, an international peer-reviewed journal — Annals of Case Reports — on Jan. 10 published a Swedish case report showing 5G radiation causes symptoms indicative of “microwave syndrome.”

In Switzerland There is no Supervision for Mobile Phone Radiation

Opponents of mobile communications discover loopholes in the law
In Switzerland there is no supervision for mobile phone radiation

Activists have found that smartphone manufacturers are not being checked to ensure they comply with the limits. It's different in France, where the state takes rigorous action.

So far, the resistance of the mobile phone opponents in Switzerland has been directed primarily against mobile phone antennas, which they believe emit radiation that is harmful to health. But now critics are also turning their attention to non-ionizing radiation (NIR) emitted by cell phones themselves.

Investigations by the organization Phonegate Alert from France with the federal authorities have revealed: In this country there is no supervisory body that checks whether the manufacturers comply with the legal standards for mobile phone radiation. Rather, the manufacturers of mobile phones are themselves responsible for ensuring the security of their devices in Switzerland.

WHO’s Cancer Research Agency to Assess 5G Health Risks — But Not Until 2025

WHO’s Cancer Research Agency to Assess 5G Health Risks — But Not Until 2025

The World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer will participate in a project to assess the health risks of exposure to 5G technologies, but critics accused the agency of ignoring already existing evidence and suggested the results could be tainted by industry partners.

By Suzanne Burdick, Ph.D., childrenshealthdefense.org, 5 January 2023

The World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) on Monday announced it will participate in a new project that includes assessing the health risks of exposure to 5G technologies.

According to IARC, the project will “develop tools and instrumentation for reliable evaluation of exposure, conduct experimental studies (in vitro, animal, and human studies) on potential cancer risks, and develop effective health risk communication materials for stakeholders.”

Switzerland: Cell phones and health: Swiss authorities still absent!

Cell phones and health: Swiss authorities still absent!
By : Phonegate Team • 5 Jan 2023

On December 22, 2022, the General Secretariat of the Swiss Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communication (DETEC) answered our last question and after three years of waiting, here is the insane conclusion of its letter:

“After extensive research, the working group found that, as the legislation currently stands, there is no market surveillance authority in Switzerland that is competent for the health aspects of NIR products (e.g. verification of compliance with NIR limit values*).

What to Know About Cellphone Radiation

What to Know About Cellphone Radiation

ProPublica recently examined how the federal government, based on quarter-century-old standards, denies that cellphones pose any risks. This guide answers some of the most common questions people ask about cellphone radiation.

To many people, the notion that cellphones or cell towers might present a health risk long ago receded into a realm somewhere between trivial concern and conspiracy theory. For decades, the wireless industry has dismissed such ideas as fearmongering, and federal regulators have maintained that cellphones pose no danger. But a growing body of scientific research is raising questions, with the stakes heightened by the ongoing deployment of hundreds of thousands of new transmitters in neighborhoods across America. ProPublica recently examined the issue in detail, finding that the chief government regulator, the Federal Communications Commission, relies on an exposure standard from 1996, when the Motorola StarTAC flip phone was cutting edge, and that the agency brushed aside a lengthy study by a different arm of the federal government that found that cellphone radiation caused rare cancers and DNA damage in lab animals. The newest generation of cellphone technology, known as 5G, remains largely untested.
