Conclusion: " It is hoped that the results of this study will increase awareness of healthcare providers, such as gynaecologists and midwives, about the adverse effects of electromagnetic waves on pregnancy and the risk of miscarriage. In this way, pregnant women will be encouraged to protect themselves from exposure to electromagnetic waves. Pre-pregnancy and early pregnancy counseling on the proper way to limit exposure to electromagnetic waves from electrical appliances and devices, mobile phones and the internet may reduce the risk of spontaneous abortions."

With the Energy and Electricity Supply Act (also known as the "Mantelerlass"), the parliament wants to accelerate the introduction of renewable energies. The association Schutz-vor-Strahlung is considering the launch of a referendum against the law. This law provides for the obligation to install digital electricity meters and controls, so-called smart meters, in all private households.
In most cases, these devices are associated with health risks and are in conflict with data protection. Another goal in introducing smart meters, combined with flexible electricity tariffs, would be to bring about a change in behavior among the population. Next week, the National Council will finish debating the remaining differences in the Electricity “Mantelerlass” (revision of the Energy and Electricity Supply Act). The association Schutz-vor-Strahlung vehemently criticizes the planned bill. This is because it stipulates that the Federal Council must oblige all electricity producers and consumers to install a digital electricity meter and a control unit. These devices are smart meters, which, according to the decree, must be installed in every Swiss household.

It is the end of a legal tussle that began several years ago. After several setbacks in court against thirteen plaintiffs with electrosensitivity, Enedis had planned to appeal to the Court of Cassation. Eventually, it will be nothing. The company preferred to avoid this last resort in order to avoid another disappointment.

We are in March 2019. An anti-linky collective, made up of 206 complainants, is filing a complaint against Enedis and the Linky meter. They accuse the device of representing a danger to the health of users and blame Enedis for having installed the meters without their prior authorization. The TGI (Tribunal de grande instance) of Bordeaux rejects the group’s request. Nevertheless, the magistrates believe that 13 of the plaintiffs, suffering from electrosensitivity, win their case.

The statewide deployment of millions of wireless smart meters has been thrown into turmoil after a court invalidated Pennsylvania’s policy that requires electric utilities to install the devices on all homes and businesses.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission and Peco Energy this week asked the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to review a lower-court decision that invalidates a policy requiring the universal installment of smart meters. Several Peco customers objected to the installation of wireless devices on their homes, saying the radio frequency (RF) emissions made them ill.

State Commonwealth Court last month determined that the 12-year-old law requiring utilities to “furnish” smart-meter technology by 2023 contained nothing to require “every customer to endure involuntary exposure” to radio emissions. The court’s opinion, written by Judge Ellen Ceisler, instead interpreted the law to support customer choice in the use of the smart-meter technology.

The Seventh Circuit just handed down a landmark opinion, ruling 3-0 that the Fourth Amendment protects energy-consumption data collected by smart meters. Smart meters collect energy usage data at high frequencies—typically every 5, 15, or 30 minutes—and therefore know exactly how much electricity is being used, and when, in any given household. The court recognized that data from these devices reveals intimate details about what’s going on inside the home that would otherwise be unavailable to the government without a physical search. The court held that residents have a reasonable expectation of privacy in this data and that the government’s access of it constitutes a “search.”

This evening, the BBC’s Watchdog Live programme did a follow up to its previous investigation on fires that have potentially been caused by poorly executed installations of smart meters. Since the original investigation they’ve been contacted by more people affected and tonight showed the devastating consequences for two families, whose homes had been gutted by fire – one from a faulty gas meter installation, and the second attributed to a faulty electricity meter installation.

The faults are not ascribed to smart meters themselves, but the haste to meet Government targets to install 53 million new meters by 2020. Because of multiple delays in the deployment programme, the industry is having to treble the number of installers, which is raising concerns for the safety of installations and has resulted in calls for a review of the timescales for installation.

Smart meters cause a “cornucopia of health issues” for occupants of the 57 million American homes equipped with the new technology, according to the World Health Organization and Cancer.org.

The news comes after a major university study into the “smart meter scam” revealed that the new meters regularly “overcharge consumers by up to 582%” while at the same time collecting owner’s data which is then sold to third parties for further profit.

Electric utilities have embraced smart meters, pushing aggressively for the mass rollout of the wireless technology. Roughly 65 million of the devices have been installed in the United States over the last few years, with 57 million in consumer homes.

Disturbingly, the government plans to have a smart meter in every home by 2020, despite the World Health Organization and Cancer.org’s dire warnings about the meter’s negative impact on health.

Three teenagers who are also students at Kinsale Community School found that radio frequencies from recently installed water meters affect mobile phone signals.

Claire Bernard, Alana McSweeney, and Sarah Cotter of Kinsale Community School found that water meters are having an effect on mobile phone frequency, but they haven’t told Irish Water just yet.

Second-year students, Alana McSweeney, 14, Claire Bernard, 13, and Sarah Cotter, 14, found that the signal of a mobile phone weakened if it was within 3m of a water meter.

They have not told Irish Water about their findings but are happy that they have proved their case. “We did a lot of testing,” said Sarah. “We conducted 1,413 tests in 471 houses. We analysed all the data and got a 95% confidence level.

The students want to develop their project to see if the radio frequency from water meters could be interfering with anything else.

Acting as her own attorney, Deborah Cooney has filed a 12,000-word $120 million civil lawsuit [attached] blaming San Diego Gas and Electric and others for the loss of her ability to live in California and the company's failure to protect her from harm due to the presence of smart meters in her neighborhood. She “could feel the immediate effects of radiation when she walked in the front door, experiencing a pins-and-needles feeling all over her skin, muscle contractions, stiffness, and pain, ataxia, dehydration, etc. Plaintiff felt a shock to her heart … at exactly 1:00, 5:00, and 9:00, as if something was being transmitted every four hours, on the hour. The shock would initiate cascading heart attack symptoms: chest pain, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, nausea, circulatory problems, edema, numbness and an impending sense of doom”.   Cooney has been forced to flee California to live in Green Bank, West Viriginia, an area free of electromagnetic waves, as a “radiation refugee”. 

May this be the first of many lawsuits against companies installing wireless smart meters.
