The initial report of the president’s MAHA Commission (Make America Healthy Again) was released last week, offering an assessment of the scope of the childhood chronic disease crisis, along with potential contributing factors and strategy recommendations. The MAHA Committee, chaired by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., includes the heads of departments of Education, Housing and Urban Development, Agriculture, and the NIH, among others. The 14-member panel of presidential advisors offered this 70-page report “supporting gold-standard scientific research.”

The commission’s report addresses many important issues, including biochemical toxins and toxicants in the food supply and environment; electromagnetic pollution, however, did not get any significant attention. We at EHT were hoping to see emphasis given to research into the health impact of electropollution from wireless devices and networks on children, but unfortunately this initial report offers only a single bullet point on the topic.

“And in that short bullet, there is a glaring error,” says EHT Vice President of Scientific and Clinical Affairs, Dr. Robert Brown. “Specifically, the statement says that ‘some studies have linked EMR exposure to reduced sperm counts and motility but not quality.’ Certainly, by affecting sperm counts and motility, sperm quality is affected. Indeed, the authors of the paper cited specify in their abstract that sperm quality data includes sperm density, motility, viability, morphology, and DNA fragmentation. I wonder who added this erroneous phrase and find it interesting that it was added in the same document in which a separate section discusses corporate capture and the revolving door.”

A jury found that Bayer, which bought Roundup-maker Monsanto in 2018, failed to warn users of years of scientific evidence that exposure to Roundup could cause cancer. The verdict rocked Bayer investors, driving down the German company’s shares more than 8% on Monday.

A Georgia jury verdict ordering Bayer AG to pay over $2 billion to a man suffering from cancer he blamed on his use of Roundup weedkiller comes as that state’s governor weighs whether to sign into law a measure that would effectively bar such cases from going to trial in the future.

The March 24 verdict rocked Bayer investors, driving down the German company’s shares more than 8% on Monday.

The jury found that Bayer, which bought Roundup-maker Monsanto in 2018, failed to properly warn users of years of scientific evidence that exposure to Roundup could cause cancer, awarding plaintiff John Barnes $2 billion in punitive damages and $65 million in compensatory damages.

Despite decades of manufacturing experience with  the best technicians in the world, improving and modernizing aircraft in detail and performance, they still overlooked a simple, small, and, in comparison, cheap monitoring system to warn of the presence of harmful fumes entering cockpits and cabins, which happens because the filtration system and seals are not 100% functional.

Pilots, cabin crew, and passengers continue to sustain acute and chronic injuries as a result of toxic exposures, a fact that the aviation industry and our governments continue to downplay or flat-out deny.

In some people, having been exposed to toxic/chemical substances, possibly over a long period of time, the immune system becomes overloaded as it is increasingly poisoned. A TILT (toxicant-induced loss of tolerance) event occurs.

During a recent stay in Nassau County on Long Island, I saw chemtrails in the sky on several occasions.  View this video of the public hearing on Long Island, 11 December 2011 "Legislation to Ban Chemtrails gets Huge Public Support".  The video was posted on the Facebook Page:  Plea to Erin Brockovich for Legal Action against Chemtrails.  Yesterday, I viewed the Italian documentary, "Chemtrails:  The Secret War" which now has French subtitles.  I would ask advocates to explore the possibility of providing English subtitles to this excellent film.


Chemtrails is not a subject I would have thought of researching until I came across an article about a government meeting last December in Riverhead, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York, which is the county adjacent to Nassau where my parents lived for over 40 years. On 6 December 2011, the Suffolk County government held a public hearing on a proposal to ban aerial spraying of aluminum oxide, barium, sulfur, and other elements into the air over the county without first filing an Environmental Impact Statement with and receiving approval from the county’s Department of Health Services. Aerosol spraying operations for agriculture, and for Lyme disease, Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE), West Nile virus (WNV), and other disease vector control operations were to be exempted from the proposed ban.

1. Bearnairdine, you've had a fascinating journey from working as a medical laboratory assistant to a flight attendant to now championing the cause of toxic fumes in aircraft cabins. Can you share how your own health issues as a flight attendant sparked this passionate advocacy?

I began my flying career after working over 5 years as a laboratory assistant. Following in my father’s footsteps who was a pilot, I planned to fly until retirement age which was 55 at the airline I worked for. At the age of 40, my health deteriorated rapidly. I had the weirdest symptoms, which at first were put down to allergies. I felt sick on flights, especially long-haul flights. The fumes entering the plane before and during take-off made me feel ill. The smell in the airplane when boarding the first thing was giving me headaches. Also, on many of those flights we had to spray insecticides depending on which country we flew to or came from, they made me cough and sneeze and made my skin itchy and red. I often felt dizzy and overwhelmingly tired, confused, and had trouble remembering the names of my team – I forgot them instantly after they introduced themselves. One day I couldn’t remember how I got home. After my next flight, I had to stop my car at the side of the road I felt so ill and so deathly tired my eyes kept closing. When I woke up I had slumped over in my driver's seat hanging in the safety belt unconscious – 1 mile from my home. The really scary part was that I couldn’t figure out how to start my car – I couldn’t find the ignition, and when I finally did, I couldn’t coordinate my feet and hands to change gears and accelerate to get the car moving - it seemed I had forgotten how to drive. That’s when I knew something was very wrong. I searched for help and found it. Then my union asked me to give some interviews since they were dealing with the issue and needed somebody to talk about it in the media. And that’s when it all began.

The problem of cabin air contamination in airliners, which can make flight crews seriously ill, has been known for decades. But the airlines are still playing down the health and safety risks.

Last March, in front of Jetblue's head office in New York, dozens of flight attendants chanted: "Fume events are real!” It was an unprecedented demonstration, designed to sound the alarm about the incidents of fumes, known as "fume events", that occur on board aircraft.

They generate unpleasant odors, contaminate the air and, as MEDIAPART has detailed, cause a range of neurological and respiratory symptoms and disabling disorders in aircrew, known as aerotoxic syndrome.

"The American Aviation Federation and aircraft manufacturers are ignoring this health risk, even after reports of crews falling ill", says Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat senator from Connecticut, who also introduced a bill for the third time in March calling for training and protection for passengers.

Is aerotoxic syndrome a new occupational disease? Described more than twenty years ago based on symptoms and disorders reported to doctors by numerous pilots and flight attendants, it is not recognized as such. It is still the subject of scientific controversy. This is "a denial", says Eric BAILET, a former pilot who founded the Association of Victims of Aerotoxic Syndrome (AVSA) in 2016. “Pilots are poisoned by the air they breathe on board aircraft," he explains. The pressurization system used on virtually all commercial aircraft today was adopted in 1955. Almost immediately, undesirable effects on crews were reported and the cause was established: the air supplied was taken from the engine compressors and contaminated by leaking lubricating oil. When heated to high temperatures, these oils can release dangerous compounds, including neurotoxic organophosphates.

As first reported by MEDIAPART France, on October 20, 2023, the Bordeaux Judicial Court recognized the causal link between this illness and occupational exposure, for yet another affected pilot. The judge relied in particular on the medical expertise of the head of the occupational and environmental pathologies department at Nantes University Hospital, according to whom the disorders reported by the pilot "are part of an ‘Aerotoxic Syndrome’ caused by the short- and long-term effects of exposure to oil-fumes-contaminated air in aircraft cabins.

However, as previously mentioned in other articles of mine don't look for ‘Aerotoxic Syndrome‘ in the international occupational disease classification tables (ICD-10): it is still not/not yet listed there. You can find my articles on the subject on my Academia.edu website here and here. The term Aerotoxic Syndrome (AS) was coined in 1999 and described as a medical condition by three scientists from France, the USA, and Australia who had independently of each other come to the same conclusions and then networked and put their findings together. AS is a collection of very diverse symptoms reported by aircrews who have been victims of cabin and cockpit air contamination events which are commonly referred to as "fume events".

The issue I intend to talk about has been known since the 1950s - roughly 70 years - and nothing has been done to address it.

In airplanes, the air in the cabin is still ‘bled off' (by the engines), with well-known consequences for flight safety and health, particularly that of the flight crew.

The industry knows the problem: planes draw air from turbines.

• High-performance turbines require synthetic oils to prevent overheating.
• TCP (tricresyl phosphate), an organophosphate–base utilized in insecticides and chemical warfare chemicals, is hazardous and was the first substance identified to be a severe health hazard in cabin air.
• TCP is a nerve toxin and banned in vehicle engine lubricants, but is in jet engine oil.
• More than 50 health-hazardous chemicals are known.
• Hydraulic fluids and de-icing fluids (in winter) evaporate and manage to get sucked inside.

Safety tests may be underestimating chemicals' potency

Estrogen-mimicking chemicals called parabens, which are commonly found in an array of personal care products, may be more dangerous at lower doses than previously thought, according to a new study. The findings, published online October 27 in Environmental Health Perspectives, could have implications for the development of breast cancer and other diseases that are influenced by estrogens. The study also raises questions about current safety testing methods that may not predict the true potency of parabens and their effects on human health.

Parabens are a class of preservatives widely-used in consumer products like shampoos, cosmetics, body lotions, and sunscreens. The chemicals are considered estrogenic because they activate the same estrogen receptor as the natural hormone estradiol. Studies have linked exposure to estradiol and related estrogens with an increased risk of breast cancer, as well as reproductive problems. As a result, the use of parabens in consumer products increasingly has become a public health concern.
