EHS IS A HUMANITARIAN EMERGENCY

Electrohypersensitivity (EHS) is a disabling environmental syndrome that can occur suddenly or develop gradually, following exposure to artificial electromagnetic fields (EMF). Wireless waves: mobile phones, DECT phones, wifi, bluetooth, smart meters, any connected object, and electrical pollution are among the main sources of electromagnetic pollution.

We, electrohypersensitive people (EHS), are sounding the alarm.

The distress of people with EHS disabilities (1) , who are increasingly numerous, is a humanitarian emergency. EMF pollution ravages their existence, depriving them of access to housing, care, work and causing them to suffer family and social exclusion, hopeless precariousness and suffering leading some to suicide.

We demand without delay:In the name of the obligation to assist people in danger (2 ) : immediate shelter in areas not exposed to artificial waves, known as “white zones”, in each region, for the most affected EHS people.

In the name of the precautionary principle (3) : a freeze on the installation of new transmitters and a halt to the reinforcement of existing transmitters, through a moratorium on the European decision concerning the terms of installation of mobile telephone antennas (European Gigabit Infrastructure Act) (4) and the right to withdraw communicating meters.

In the name of the fundamental right to housing (5) : the protection of white areas where EHS people have found refuge, which must be a priority.

In the name of the obligation of states in matters of disability (6) : the implementation of accessibility programs to restore the inclusion of EHS people (places of care, public transport, administrations, education, sport, culture and leisure, etc.).

A complete reform of European regulations on exposure to electromagnetic waves, taking into account the recognition of the biological effects (7) of artificial EMFs, is now essential:

- The devastating effects of artificial EMFs on humans and all living things have been documented for over 40 years and we now have a body of thousands of indisputable scientific studies (8) .

- The conflicts of interest of the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), a private body which in 2002 dictated the standards without any scientific justification, from which the standards still derive today (9) , have been clearly denounced in the European Parliament (10) .

- No elected official, no doctor in Europe should any longer ignore the numerous scientific publications, recent and old, showing that artificial EMFs affect living organisms: humans (11) , animals (12) and plants (13) .

- The explosion of chronic diseases is evidence of the ongoing health catastrophe. Artificial EMFs are toxic to environmental ecosystems (14) , and are added to pesticides, endocrine disruptors and fine particles (15) . The permanent exposure of everyone, everywhere, to constantly increasing levels increases the risks of cancer (16) , infertility (17) , genetic alteration (18) , damage to the central nervous system (19) , immunosuppression (20) , learning delays (21) , behavioral disorders (22) , chronic fatigue, sleep disorders, electrohypersensitivity (23) , multi-chemical sensitivity (MCS) (24) , oxidative stress (25) and inflammation (26) .
