France has just issued a decree and an order in the Official Gazette of 17 November 2019 with regard to exposure to waves emitted by radioelectric equipment.
"Tablets, connected watches, radio-controlled toys... From 1 July 2020, the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) will be displayed on all radioelectric equipment likely to be used in the vicinity of the human body (up to 20 centimeters). To date, this display requirement only applies to mobile phone devices."
A decree and an order were published to this effect in the Official Gazette of 17 November 2019.
The permissible SAR limit values are:
- 2 W/kg (watts per kilogram) for head and trunk ;
- 4 W/kg for members.
Reminder: In an opinion dated 21 October 2019, the National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) states that some expert reports highlight biological effects on brain activity when exposed to a SAR level above 2 W/kg.
