SAR of Cell Phone : France Files a Formal Objection to the EU Commission

SAR of cell phone : France files a formal objection to the EU Commission
by Equipe Phonegate | 28 Nov 2021

The SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) of cell phones is supposed to protect the health of users. This is still not the case! Also, on the recommendations of the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES), France has therefore referred to the European Commission to propose a measurement of SAR in direct contact with the body. But, two years after the announcement of the Government, nothing has changed yet.

For our part, we denounce since 2016, a European regulation that allows manufacturers to put in the hands of their customers, cell phones dangerous for their health. Thus, the SAR of cell phones was measured, until June 2017, at a unrealistic distance from the body with its use and can go up to 2.5 centimeters from the skin. Yet today, SAR is still measured at 5 millimeters from the trunk.

United States: AT&T and Verizon Agree to 5G Power Limits to Resolve FAA Safety Concerns

"The issue has caught the attention of members of Congress. Last week, Reps. Peter DeFazio, chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and Rick Larsen, chair of the Aviation Subcommittee, sent a letter to the FCC, accusing the agency of a 'deploy now, fix later' strategy that 'roll(s) the dice with safety.' "

AT&T and Verizon Communications are voluntarily agreeing to take further precautions to make sure cell towers transmitting 5G signals using newly acquired midband spectrum won't interfere with aircraft signals.
The companies laid out their plan in a letter sent to the US Federal Communications Commission on Wednesday afternoon, in a move meant to defuse a conflict between the wireless and aviation industries.

In the letter addressed to the FCC's acting chair, Jessica Rosenworcel, the companies said they plan to lower the power levels nationwide on their cell towers that'll transmit 5G signals over the so-called C-band of wireless spectrum. Additionally, they said they'd impose even stricter power limits on the use of this spectrum near regional airports and public helipads, according to the letter, which CNET reviewed. The companies proposed taking the action for a period of six months "while additional evidence from radio altimeter manufacturers is evaluated," AT&T said in a separate statement.

Canada Limits 5G to Protect Air Travel

Canada Limits 5G To Protect Air Travel
by Diana Furchtgott-Roth, Forbes Contributor, Nov 21, 2021

Canada’s Department of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development (ISED) has decided to restrict certain 5G services because they would interfere with radio altimeters, a crucial component of aircraft navigation systems.

Radio altimeters tell pilots where their planes are relative to Earth. If radio altimeters are not functioning properly, then aircraft could crash upon landing, or fly into mountains or hills. No one wants a loved one to be on a plane with a malfunctioning radio altimeter.

On Thursday, ISED, acting on the results of a study initiated in August, concluded that without further restrictions, 5G services in the 3.45 -3.65 GHz band would pose dangers to radio altimeters, which operate in the 4.2 - 4.4 GHz band.

Letter to U.S. Education Secretary Regarding Risks of Wireless Radiation Exposures in Schools

Read and share this excellent letter from the Environmental Health Trust to Education Secretary Miguel Cardona with recommendations to eliminate unnecessary sources of non-ionizing radiation on school property and reduce the risk to students and staff of wireless radiation exposures.

Dear Dr. Miguel Cardona U.S. Secretary of Education

Today, we are writing to advise you of the scientific grounds for taking action to mitigate student, teacher and staff exposures to Wi-Fi and other non-ionizing electromagnetic fields in schools.

Wireless radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic (EMF) radiation and magnetic field/extremely low-frequency electromagnetic fields (ELF-EMF) are a rapidly increasing type of environmental exposure for children, teachers and staff in classrooms.

How Green is 5G?

How Green is 5G?
by Sally Beare, Envirotec, November 2021

A panoply of dazzling new IoT applications is a given, it would seem, with all the potential benefits one would expect from a step-change in wireless connectivity. But what about the environmental footprint? Sally Beare writes

With the plan for connected devices everywhere, internet traffic is set to triple over the next five years.1 Multiple masts and densely-placed small cells will proliferate. A single 5G base station is estimated to guzzle about as much power as 73 typical homes, a threefold increase over 4G.2, 3

Once base stations, data centres and devices are added up, telecommunications could consume over 20% of the world’s electricity by 2025, says Huawei analyst Dr Anders Andrae (compared to approximately 11% currently).4. 5 Compare that with global aviation’s 2.5% share of GHGs: In a worst-case scenario 5G could create almost ten times that by 2030.6,7

The FCC — Out Of The Playbook of The Tobacco Industry

The FCC — Out Of The Playbook of The Tobacco Industry
by Devra Davis, devradavis.medium.com, 9 November 2021

Pity Facebook! The gargantuan cartel stands charged inside and out with manipulating and monetizing the heartbeats and minds of billions. Missing so far from public consideration is another undeniable characteristic of our increasingly digitized worlds. The billions of devices on which WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook depend all rely on two-way microwave emitting devices that have never been tested for safety, especially for youngsters.

On the cusps of major holidays, federal agencies typically put out news dubbed “throwing out the trash” that slip under the public radar. Just before Christmas of 2019, the U.S. Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) quietly unleashed its determination to affirm safety standards for wireless radiation developed in 1996, rejecting reams of evidence about the harms caused by wireless radiation — evidence that was submitted in response to an FCC request years earlier.

France: End of the obligation of smartphone manufacturers to provide a hands-free kit: an irresponsible decision!

End of the obligation of smartphone manufacturers to provide a hands-free kit: an irresponsible decision!
by Equipe Phonegate | 8 Nov 2021

Press Release November 8, 2021

The bill of the LR senator, Patrick Chaize was adopted on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 by the French Parliament. It lifts the obligation of manufacturers to provide with their cell phones the means of protection in order to reduce exposure of the users’ head.

In 2010, the Grenelle II law had established a broader obligation for the protection of the health of consumers and not just specific to the hands-free kit:

“Radioelectric terminals intended to be connected to a network open to the public for the provision of telephony service may not be marketed without an accessory to limit the exposure of the head to radioelectric emissions during communications.”

In reformulating this text, the parliamentarians have gone much further. They have put an end to every form of protection provided in an obligatory way by the manufacturer when marketing cell phones in order to protect exposure of the head.

Pseudo “ecological” justifications

According to an interview with Patrick Chaize published on the Frandroid website, he justifies this proposal integrated into the bill “Reducing the environmental footprint of digital technology in France”:

“Wired headsets, which are systematically supplied with smartphones, are a major source of waste…”.

And the senator added regarding the health aspects that justified this obligation:

“In any case, nothing indicates that the free provision of headsets protects these intensive users more widely from identified health risks.”
