Lloyd’s Won’t Discuss Their New EMF Exclusion Clause

Lloyd’s Won’t Discuss Their New EMF Exclusion Clause
andrewgeller.me, 25 March 2015

Last week, a couple of blogs noted that a recent commercial liability insurance renewal policy issued through a Lloyd’s of London underwriter contained a liability exclusion clause about electromagnetic fields.

The clause excludes any compensation for claims:

“directly or indirectly arising out of, resulting from or contributed to by electromagnetic fields, electromagnetic radiation, electromagnetism, radio waves or noise.”

It is important that “radio waves” are explicitly included as they, specifically the microwave zone, are what enable wireless communications devices like cell phones, wi-fi, cordless phones etc.

After the policy holder made an inquiry seeking clarification about the exclusion language, CFC Underwriting LTD in London, the UK agent for Lloyd’s, sent the following:

“The Electromagnetic Fields Exclusion (Exclusion 32) is a General Insurance Exclusion and is applied across the market as standard. The purpose of the exclusion is to exclude cover for illnesses caused by continuous long-term non-ionising radiation exposure i.e. through mobile phone usage.”

Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity: A Summary by Dr. Erica Mallery-Blythe

Dr. Erica Mallery-Blythe
Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity: A Summary by Dr Erica Mallery-Blythe
by Katie Singer (about the author), opednews.com, 8 March 2015

This summary is an expanded section of a larger document entitled "Electromagnetic Health for Children". The full document is designed in response to requests for information detailing current health concerns of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) with a focus on radiofrequency (RF) radiation. This is an expanded subsection covering EHS only.

Background:

We are currently witnessing the largest change to the Earth's electromagnetic environment that has ever taken place in human history.

This change has taken place in the very short period of a handful of decades and continues to escalate at an exponential rate (Appendix 1). Given that household electricity, which was the first anthropogenic (man-made) electromagnetic field (EMF), only became prolific after the turn of the century, artificial EMF has barely seen one generation from cradle to grave. The use of higher frequency microwave devices such as mobile telephony, Wi-fi and smart meters, have suddenly become commonplace despite almost no safety testing and decades of evidence of potentially lethal effects.

Green Bank, West Virginia: Inside the 'Quiet Zone', Home to Electrosensitives

Inside the 'quiet zone', home to electrosensitives
North America correspondent Ben Knight, Australian Broadcasting Corporation,
10 March 2015

The tiny US town of Green Bank, West Virginia is in the 'quiet zone' - free from wireless communications due to the sensitivity of a high powered telescope. That makes it attractive to so-called 'electrosensitives' like Diane Schou - those who say they are unable to live with the frequencies emitted by modern electrical devices.

EMMA ALBERICI, PRESENTER: If you are worried about your privacy, you could start encrypting all your messages. Or how about throwing away your smart phone, laptop altogether?

Just for a minute, imagine life without those wireless gadgets you carry everywhere: the mobile, the tablet. What do you think you'd do if you didn't have them anymore?

That's some people's idea of nirvana but not just ageing drop-outs: an unfortunate group of people who call themselves "electrosensitives". They believe that electromagnetic radiation from the modern world is making them physically ill.

On 25 February 2015, the Swiss Federal Council adopted a report detailing options to deal with the increase in mobile phone traffic.  One of  these is to raise the limit values of installations from 4-6 to 10 volts per meter.  Following is a summary of an article published in 20minutes.

Horror at higher cell phone radiation exposure limits
20min.ch, 27 February 2015

The Swiss mobile network is virtually unusable. The Federal Council concludes that there should be a relaxation of radiation protection limits,

But opponents want to prevent this.   A number of Swiss Parliamentarians are against stronger radiation.

SVP National Councillor Andrea Geissbühler says that making long calls is not good, especially for children. "Diseases and brain damage cannot be excluded."

SP National Councillor Margret Kiener Nellen says she will oppose any increase.  There are electrosensitive people, but still no studies on the long-term damage of the previous generation of mobile phones. Children are using cell phones and we know little about possible health effects.

Lloyd's of London Excludes Coverage for RF/EMR Claims

"Lloyd's of London is one of the largest insurers in the world and often leads the way in protection, taking on risks that no one else will. Attached is a recent renewal policy which, as of Feb. 7, 2015, excludes any coverage associated with exposure to non-ionizing radiation. [View original article.]  In response to clarification, this response was received on Feb. 18, 2015 from CFC Underwriting LTD, London, UK agent for Lloyd's:

"'The Electromagnetic Fields Exclusion (Exclusion 32) is a General Insurance Exclusion and is applied across the market as standard. The purpose of the exclusion is to exclude cover for illnesses caused by continuous long-term non-ionising radiation exposure i.e. through mobile phone usage."

Lloyd's of London excludes coverage for RF/EMR claims
Citizens for Safe Technology, 22 February 2015

Letter to Government from Sharon Noble - Director of Coalition to Stop Smart Meters in BC

Premier Clark, Mr. Bennett and Mr. Reimer,

RE: Lloyd's of London excludes coverage for claims caused by exposure to non-ionizing radiation.

"Based on inaccurate information provided by ITRON, Health Canada and Dr. Perry Kendall, you have been telling people that there is no health risk due to prolonged exposure to radiation from smart meters on homes and wifi in school -- this despite your having received 100s of studies by independent researchers and many letters from scientists and doctors to the contrary.

NASA Proposes Spraying Stratospheric Aerosols Into Earth’s Atmosphere
by Arjun Walia, collective-evolution.com, 18 April 2014

It’s really amazing how many people are waking up to the fact that “chemtrails” are different from “con-trails.” What was once considered a conspiracy to many is now a fact, chemicals are constantly sprayed into our atmosphere and have been for quite some time now.

Not long ago, NASA personnel gave a lecture (that was also streamed live) at their Jet Propulsion Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology. It was a series of talks by scientists and engineers exploring the topic of Geoengineering and Climate Intervention. (1)

Ireland: Three Teenagers Discover Irish Water Ltd. Smart Meters Affect Mobile Phones

Young Scientist: Three Teenagers discover Irish Water Ltd. Smart Meters Affect Mobile Phones
Extract of article by Evelyn Ring, Irish Examiner,
9 January 2015

Three teenagers who are also students at Kinsale Community School found that radio frequencies from recently installed water meters affect mobile phone signals.

Claire Bernard, Alana McSweeney, and Sarah Cotter of Kinsale Community School found that water meters are having an effect on mobile phone frequency, but they haven’t told Irish Water just yet.

Second-year students, Alana McSweeney, 14, Claire Bernard, 13, and Sarah Cotter, 14, found that the signal of a mobile phone weakened if it was within 3m of a water meter.

They have not told Irish Water about their findings but are happy that they have proved their case. “We did a lot of testing,” said Sarah. “We conducted 1,413 tests in 471 houses. We analysed all the data and got a 95% confidence level.

The students want to develop their project to see if the radio frequency from water meters could be interfering with anything else.

Petition to the WHO/IARC: Move Radio Frequency Radiation from Class 2b to Class 1: Carcinogen

The attached Joint Statement will be delivered to WHO/IARC, the United Nations, & the White House preceding delivery of the class 1 petition (reference said petition here) to those same sources.  [The petition, "IARC, WHO:  Move Radio Frequency Radiation from Class 2b to Class 1 has nearly 5,000 signatures to date.  Please sign it if you have not already done so.]

We respectfully request your signature & organization's signature on a Joint Statement (notice attached) that has been endorsed by Oncologist Lennart Hardell.

Dr. Lennart Hardell highly recommends that each NGO & EMF Organization sign this Joint Statement to further the effort to get WHO/IARC to act on the scientific findings & classify RF/EMF radiation as a class 1 carcinogen.

Notice his endorsement here:

"In May 2011 IARC at WHO classified radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) as ‘possible human carcinogen’ Group 2B. The scientific evidence has been strengthened after that and using the so called Hill viewpoints, initially established in the 1960’s on smoking and lung cancer, RF-EMF may now be considered to cause human cancer. Thus, I endorse the initiative by many NGOs to ask IARC for re-evaluation of the cancer classification of RF-EMF. This is important not the least in view of most people exposed to RF-EMF."
