Switzerland: Microwave Sickness Affects around 800,000 People

Press release from Swiss advocacy group, "Schutz vor Strahlung" ("Protection from Radiation") on the occasion of the fourth "International Electrosensitivity Day".

Media release "International Electrosensitivity Day on June 16, 2021" - translation

Zurich, June 16, 2021 When people or animals have health symptoms or feel bad under the influence of electromagnetic radiation, they are called "electrosensitive". This environmental disease can affect anyone. According to the latest surveys, a good ten percent of the population - or around 800,000 people - are affected by electrosensitivity.

It has been 89 years since the so-called microwave sickness was discovered, which today is usually called electrosensitivity. In the meantime, ten percent of the Swiss population is already affected. They attribute impairments in health and well-being to electromagnetic radiation. For some of them, blood pressure rises significantly when they are in the vicinity of a mobile communications system. Others experience a strong buzzing or whistling in their ears when in the vicinity of wireless devices. Many younger sufferers complain of visual disturbances, older sufferers of dizziness. Both symptoms only occur when the affected person is exposed to radiation. Electrosensitive people also typically suffer from headaches, exhaustion, sleep disturbances, concentration problems, chronic pain, tension and much more. The association Schutz vor Strahlung (Protection from Radiation) has knowledge of hundreds of sufferers who are increasingly restricted in their daily lives, locked up in constant quarantine at home, or forced to flee further and further from civilization.

Both general practitioners and specialists are still hardly aware of this serious environmental disease. The consequences are not only mistreatment and years of suffering, but also the loss of family or job.
In the report "Mobile communications and radiation" by the FOEN [Swiss Federal Office for the Environment] , an extended environmental medical advice center for non-ionizing radiation is proposed. On the one hand, it should take care of individual cases, on the other hand, it should provide general practitioners with the necessary know-how so that they can make preliminary investigations. The Federal Council has decided to implement this advisory office, and initial preparations are already underway. We are pleased about these developments and hope many family doctors will be interested.

For several months, our 5-year-old son has had headaches, almost daily. So far, no cause could be found by conventional medicine, he was prescribed painkillers. We suspect that he is electrosensitive, because the headaches regularly worsen when he has been exposed to strong Wi-Fi or mobile phone radiation. In the kindergarten, both are the case. The kindergarten teacher tries very hard to be considerate, but she can't do anything about the cell phone antenna, which is visible. Our son is a completely different child when he has such headaches. He becomes antisocial, aggressive, uncooperative, and we empathize with how uncomfortable he is. If he were to go to school in our community next year, he would have to work on the iPad from 1st grade and the Wi-Fi would always be on. Computer literacy has a high value today, we were told, cables are too restrictive and expensive. We are now considering sending him to a private school. We don't want our son's health to be put at risk like that.

I, 56 years old, have been sensitive to high-frequency mobile phone radiation ever since I was first confronted with it. However, I could not identify it at the beginning. Over time, however, I noticed that I became dizzy in some way whenever I was near an antenna. It was no longer possible for me to think clearly. Depending on the exposure time, my condition then progressively worsened toward sweating, headaches, eye pressure, ringing in the ears, the inability to articulate, and heart palpitations. When I am severely affected by radiation, there is great danger of biting my tongue while eating.

After a strong exposure, I have to drink a lot, take a shower, and then after about 24 hours I am more or less back on my feet. Today, I can cope with the radiation in that I don't need wireless technology at home or at work and have had our living quarters and my office insulated against high-frequency radiation. I do not participate in public life if possible. I go on vacation in secluded nature.

Just over a year ago, several cellular antennas were upgraded in our densely populated neighborhood. A 5G antenna is located only 50 meters from our bedroom, and a 4G+Plus antenna is now located on the roof of a house at 80 meters as the crow flies. Since then, I have been suffering from sleep disturbances, headaches, tinnitus, intermittent dizziness, concentration and heart rhythm disorders, and shortness of breath. During the night, the intensity of the antenna radiation is increased several times and then decreased again, which always wakes me up and causes my heart to race. I was not electrosensitive before this time. My letters and objections to the authorities have had no effect.

I was advised to contact my family doctor, to take medication or to close the shutters even during the day. We have become slaves to these antennas!
