Robert F. Kennedy Jr. appointed U.S. Health Secretary: what prospects for Phonegate?
By : Phonegate Team • 17 Feb 2025

On February 13, 2025, the U.S. Senate confirmed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as U.S. Secretary of Health, opening up new prospects in the fight against the risks associated with cell phone radiation.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: a promising commitment

While Kennedy was President of Children’s Health Defense (CHD), the organization’s teams were instrumental in bringing to light a variety of environmental health issues, including radiofrequencies and the Phonegate scandal.

His past commitment to this issue and his appointment as head of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) give us reason to hope that the U.S. federal authorities will pay greater attention to Phonegate issues.

Our American partner Environmental Health Trust (EHT) welcomed this appointment in a press release dated February 13, 2025:

“Environmental Health Trust congratulates Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on his Senate confirmation to become the 26th Secretary of Health and Human Services. Mr. Kennedy has been a leader in promoting environmental health and in helping to increase public awareness of the detrimental health impacts of wireless radiation on humans, flora, and fauna.”

Concrete results in Europe and soon in the USA?

Phonegate Alert’s actions have already produced significant results in France and Europe. To date, we have contributed to the withdrawal or updating of 57 cell phone models identified as dangerous to users’ health. These include Apple’s iPhone 12, which has undergone a software update to reduce its radiation emission levels.

Our actions were also behind the revelations in 2019 by journalist and Pulitzer Prize winner Sam Roe in the Chicago Tribune, which led to several class actions against manufacturers Apple and Samsung in the USA and Canada, and a legal action against the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Indeed, Mr. Kennedy, via his organization CHD, joined the EHT action in the Federal case Environmental Health Trust et al. FCC, 2021, which resulted in the FCC’s historic indictment for failing to explain the reasons for its 2019 decision to retain its 1996 safety limits.
Future prospects for better protection of user health

These concrete advances demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach and the relevance of our concerns regarding the need to put in place regulations that genuinely protect the health of users.

We hope that Mr. Kennedy’s appointment will enable us to extend this progress to the United States, drawing on our French and European experience to better protect American consumers.
