CHD Files Comments With FCC Seeking Accommodation For Millions Sick From Wireless Radiation

WASHINGTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–On May 16, Children’s Health Defense (CHD) and 50 other nonprofit health and safety technology advocacy organizations filed legal comments with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in response to the request for FCC comments on how to “
prevent and eliminate digital discrimination. The procedure was required by the Infrastructure Investment and Employment Act (“Infrastructure Act”) and President Biden’s Executive Order 13985. Co-signers include Frank Clegg, former president of Microsoft Canada and founder of Canadians for Safe Technology and Dr. Kent Chamberlin, a commissioner on New Hampshire’s pioneering 5G Commission.

CHD and other “EMS Disability Advocates” have called for the acceptance, affirmation and inclusion of the Electromagnetically Sensitive Disability or EMS community, a growing band of people harmed by wireless technology, including cell towers, smart meters, Wi-Fi and telephones. . CHD requests, as of right, access to wired broadband (based on fiber) in the premises for the disabled EMS.

EMS is a term used since 2002 by the US Access Board, an independent federal agency designed to advise other federal agencies on guidelines for accommodating people with disabilities. The Access Council pledged an effort to remove barriers to EMS access for the disabled. Twenty years later, however, that promise has not been fulfilled.

The CHD’s legal comments explained that the EMS disability community experiences a unique form of “digital discrimination.”

“These people just can’t be near the (wireless) RF radiation because it makes them sick,” said CHD President and General Counsel Mary Holland. Advocates for EMS with Disabilities, support the Commission’s stated goals to advance “equity in the provision of and access to digital communication services and products for all people in the United States, without discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, gender, or disability. They observed, however, that EMS-sensitive and EMS-disabled suffer largely because of the FCC’s own actions, as it is the agency that pushes to flood every part of the country and invade people’s homes with wireless radiation – even if it seriously harms millions of Americans.

CHD’s comments were accompanied by a white paper authored by Susan Foster and Odette J. Wilkins, “Eliminating Digital Discrimination for the EMS Disabled.” The document provides accommodation suggestions, including “wireless zones” in public places.
