The Tribune de Genève Publishes Opinion on the Industrial and Health Scandal of Phonegate

Our recent letter to the editor on the industrial and health scandal of Phonegate, an issue that has been completely ignored by the media in Switzerland and most other countries.  We will hear more about this affair in future.  A recent landmark decision by the Administrative Court of Rome has ordered the Italian Government to launch a national campaign on the health and environmental risks of mobile phone use. In their arguments, the legal team relied, among other things, on the data concerning the results of the tests of the French National Frequencies Agency (ANFR) on more than 500 mobile phones, published as part of the Phonegate scandal.

Thank you to RTS for its program Temps Présent, "Le téléphone portable, une arme d'addiction massive" ["The cell phone, a weapon of mass addiction"] . This is only one aspect of the risks of exposure to electromagnetic waves (EM) from wireless devices. In 2018, the National Council tabled at least six initiatives on improving health awareness in the mobile phone sector. The inquiry "Radiation-emitting devices close to the head and body" is one of the few proposals of a national parliament to mention the Phonegate scandal. In 2016, Dr Marc Arazi, President of the international NGO, "Phonegate Alert", revealed that, according to tests carried out by the French National Frequencies Agency (ANFR), the regulatory values of the specific absorption rate (SAR) of many mobile phones are not respected when used near the body. For more than 20 years, mobile phone users have been deceived both by manufacturers about their true EM wave exposure thresholds and by authorities who do not warn them to keep the device away from the body. Recently, Dr. Arazi has been subjected to alleged acts of intimidation. Elected officials must move forward with all their legislative proposals to protect the population from exposure to EM waves.
